AprilAire Healthy Air

I’ve used a few smart thermostats in the past. Ecobee, Honeywell, nest. My HVAC contractor put in the aprilaire 8920W. This thermostat looks the nicest and in theory has the most features but has the worst features and is the worst unit of them all. Too bad it it double the price of the competition. Want to see what heating stage is running in the app? Too bad. Want to see temperatures over time? LOL. What about options to adjust my fan? It’s technically “there” but very limited. Remote temperature sensors? What are those ? It’s not like they have been available for years from everyone else. It’s too bad HVAC contractors continue putting in whatever garbage products large legacy manufacturers are offering using. I’m going to have to buy additional controllers to make my ecobee work with this setup. It’s a shame but all this brand new aprilaire garbage is going in the trash where it belongs.

Makes life easy for me. I can’t imagine going downstairs just to adjust the thermostat on the screen.

Not a good system for app use. Tried multiple times to connect, resetting the thermostat, redownloading the app and contacted customer service ( who told me to contact a different support?! ). Wouldn’t recommend this brand or product.

The app is always jamming up saying “Please Wait”. Some times you make a change and it never gets to the thermostat. There no way to allow humidity greater than 50%. Scheduling sucks. Weather doesn’t work. Slow. Also beware that once AprilAir installs their panel and junction box on your furnace, it’s VERY hard to switch back.

Why there is no button to press and activate the away mode? Why i can’t put the fresh air ventilation on a daily timer or schedule instead of off or auto only? When it’s on auto it’s running all the time and bringing freezing air to the house in the winter !!. I hope the update will address these issues so the app will deserve five stars 👍

Nest makes a cleaner app. Recent update made it ok. Before it was horrendous.

Unable to fetch weather with a Canadian postal code. What happened here? It worked before.

It’s great to be able to adjust and program the temperature from anywhere, but the app isn’t my favourite. Since the last two upgrades, it no longer has the option to choose between Celsius and Fahrenheit within the app. Well, technically it does, but it doesn’t work. So my thermostat is Celsius and my app is Fahrenheit and it’s confusing.
