A good set of graphics, however the role of the dice is clearly in favour of the opponent in a very very obvious way. Shame. There is no possible way a human could role the exact numbers required almost every role of the dice, in other words it cheats!

Like every other backgammon computer game, when playing against the computer, there is no change in the computers playing ability. It’s simply the harder the setting, the more fixed the dice throw is! Just played 3 games back to back, in all 3, I only had 1 opening in my inner table and got a computer piece on the bar. Every time the computer always got the exact right number it needed! Don’t know what it is like playing 2 player but don’t need an iPad for that, I have several boards with genuine random dice throws!

Great game play and the randomiser isn’t too unfair. It would benefit from recording stats and being able to use the doubling cube. Why have it there if it doesn’t work!?!

It’s much better illustrated and animated than many backgammon games, and it’s free, so can’t really complain at all. I play it a lot and enjoy it. There’s not much difference between the easy and hard modes - the user can win a high proportion of the time even on the hardest setting. The biggest issue is the consistently improbable dice rolls. There is no way statistically that the computer should get as often as it does the exact and only combination of two dies it needs to hit a blot. The number of doubles rolled is also higher than you’d expect. If the user has a piece on the bar with two free points, it regularly takes 10-15 turns to throw one of those two numbers - the odds against that happening randomly are huge. I read that devs claim the dice algorithm is random. It is not. If they are using a random number generator in good faith, it’s a poor generator. I’ve played enough times to know there is no way these numbers appear randomly.

I’ve tried a lot of the Backgammon apps, but this by far is the best in every way.

The roll patterns in this app give away the mediocre algorithms backed up by cheating which is admittedly subtler than other games achieve but still a complete giveaway. The computer rolls doubles and conveniently hits blots while the user sits on the bar turn after turn on a 50/50 roll. Such a shame that no-one has developed a truly fair backgammon game based on decent playing algorithms.

Tried from easy to hard, but could do with more challenging moves even introduce the doubling cube?

Set the game to hard and suddenly the AI opponent throws doubles one after another. Make it hard by outwitting your opponent, not by making them super lucky!

Why no doubling die? And even on ‘hard’, the computer makes silly moves, virtually always losing…..disappointing as not a challenge.
