Birch is a different kind of Notes app, built for photos. It's Notes, for visual individuals!
Organized photo notes:
Are you the type of person who's always super busy, and takes quick reminder photos of things you need to remember later? Is your photo album filled with pictures of product labels, mail, receipts, household projects, whiteboards, recipes, etc? Many of us have turned our photo album into a visual notes app, but Birch can make this "Photo Notes" part of your life much simpler and more organized! Just snap a photo, add a hashtag in a note, and that's it! Create photo notes in seconds and find them lighting fast when you need them later.
Hashtags are simpler and way more convenient than creating albums and folders to organize your photos, especially these reminder note photos! Think of it like a document scanner mixed with an organized file cabinet, except it's not limited to only documents or PDFs and can be used to document and reference anything that can be captured by a photo! Multiple hashtags can be added to any photo note, so you can find these organized pics in multiple places. And the organization is managed automatically for you by simply adding hashtags to your notes!
Just a few examples of where Birch really shines:
• Snapping a quick photo note of something you see in the wild and want to buy later.
• Labels & product numbers of household supplies you need to find at the store later.
• Receipts and mail you don't want to keep physical copies of.
• Organizing and saving whiteboard notes, so you can safely erase but never lose.
• Or even just organizing your favorite photos from an occasion (it's built for notes... but it's still way easier than managing personal photo albums)
Free with a paid Pro option:
I'm a small indie developer, but I don’t think it’s right to make money unless you’re actually getting value. So you get a good amount of features and functionality for free, then have an upgrade option to access more “power user” features. If Birch is helping to make your life a bit easier, upgrading costs less than 5 coffees per year… only 3 if you drink the good stuff!
Organize your life, with beautiful photo notes! A clean, simple and intuitive design that looks great in Light or Dark mode!
In-App purchase disclaimer:
Should you decide to upgrade to Birch Pro, a purchase will be applied to your iTunes account at the time of upgrade. Subscriptions will automatically renew unless canceled within 24-hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel anytime with your iTunes account settings. 10 PRINT program is a classic one-liner code that generates a maze-like pattern on the screen. It’s often written in BASIC and has been adapted for various systems, including the Apple II series.
For the Apple IIGS, you can write a similar program in Applesoft BASIC. Here’s an example:
10 PRINT CHR$(205.5+RND(1)); : GOTO 10
This code uses the CHR$ function to print either a forward or backward slash, creating a random maze pattern. The RND(1) function generates a random number between 0 and 1, and 205.5 is used to determine which character to print.
If you’re interested in more details or variations of this program, there are many resources and communities dedicated to retro computing and the Apple II series12.

Have you tried running any other classic programs on your Apple IIGS? 😊
Just Sell Me The App
This continuous yearly monetization scheme is nonsense. You make an app and I want to buy your app- Sell it.
The App itself is useful but I'm not going to pay to rent a stagnant piece of software.
Stop telling me to upgrade to Pro when I already paid for Pro
Love the app except that even though I am in my second year of paying for Pro it keeps limiting me and saying I have to have Pro to do what I want to do. I’m looking at my Apple subscription info and it clearly says I have Pro through July 6, 2024.
Fix your records and stop limiting my actions.
Outstanding
I’ve used a lot of note apps and tried to use photos to keep track of things for years. This app makes it all work seamlessly across my iCloud for all my devices.
Excellent execution and a beautiful design!
Best kept secret!
Amazing! I have organized all my pictures and able to edit and add notes. It has cut my searching for the right notes or references down 80% while working.
This might work!
My photo library is full of reminders - that I can never find again! I am thrilled to be able to pull those into Birch and delete them from Photos. Will take all new memory snaps with Birch and immediately hashtag. I am ADD and visually inclined.
Great photo catalog app
I use this to organize my pottery glazes, it works better than the current pottery glaze apps that are available. Not a fan of subscription apps but it’s clean, attractive and does what I need it to do.
Finally a visual productivity app
Love it. Using already. Few questions: for someone in a health workplace, how is your data secured? If I have a patient info in a pic am I/are you/we covered?
Part two: any family sharing/calendar reminder functionality planned? Any integrating with smart devices? Excellent app, saw the stormtrooper reddit post, great use of your time. Also, the design symphony is beautifully simple.
Pps: any thoughts on pic stitching? I’ve immediately went to sort my recipes and it works as a multi image note but might be smoother as one long image. I can see how that would cause other problems tho.
Simple solution for organizing visual notes and commentary
My Apple Photos app is cluttered with screen shots, snap shots, visual reminders, receipts, art study, and family photos. Really gets in the way of managing my fine art photos. Apple’s keyword tagging is feeble, and can only be done on Mac—not iOS.
Now I can just index all the documentary stuff with keywords in birch, add explanatory text as needed, and delete the copy in the Photos. Finally a way to preserve ideas & records, while keeping my artwork and family photos at my fingertips on all my devices.
Great app!
Very helpful. Would love to see a more robust system for adding hash tags to photos in the camera roll
