Bloomz: For Teachers & Schools

Has notifications that won’t show, even if you restart the phone. Teacher posts updates and you’ll get a push notification but there’s no notification in the app and you have to hunt for the update. We used dojo last year and it worked so much better than this

The app is crashing every time I open my notifications. I’m using the current app version at the time of this posting.

Beware… they’ll ask you to pay to download pics of your own child and call that a “premium” feature. Android app pretending to be iOS. Probably just a website wrapper. Broken business model and poor quality. Hard pass.

App constantly crashes and is slow. Pictures are hard to scroll through especially when the stack contains a video. Layout needs work.

I’ve taken my son out of this class. I have selected “delete” on his profile 15+ times to no avail. So I deleted my entire account. Guess what I’m gone from the class but my son’s profile remains. I’ve ask customer service to delete it and they have not!!! Huge violation of trust!

We are forced to use this app for school communication and it’s user experience is terrible. The font is miniature and doesn’t scale properly. I received an invite code from my child’s school but it won’t link. I receive text notifications, then when I click the link to view in the app, it says I don’t have access. I would prefer to use Class dojo.

Needed to communicate with child’s teacher today and couldn’t because I hadn’t received the correct code. My other child was almost late to school because I was so preoccupied with trying to figure this app out. I have 8 other apps for communication with teachers already (2 of them this same teacher is already on). They all claim to be a “one stop shop” and “everything in one place,” obviously this is not true in practice. It’s exhausting.

This was a good app for receiving communication from teachers but when you tried to send a message to teachers sometimes it would switch the name on you and send it to a different teacher. I still had to email certain teachers because the app would never send the message to the right teacher (messages to an elementary teacher were going to a middle school science teacher we didn’t even have).

I’m comparing this app to other apps I’ve had to use. First, bloomz doesn’t let me use one profile for multiple kids, so I’ve had to sign up under a new email for each child. The text links do not automatically take you to the app where you can use the code it just takes me to the last place I was in the app. It would be a pain for a parent with 3+ kids if each of their teachers ended up using bloomz at same time since you would have to sign in with a different email for each kid. Second, I have to sign out and sign back in when switching to another child’s profile which is time consuming. I don’t want to sit on my phone and keeping signing into /flipping through different tabs in the app. It’s not as straightforward, but I’ll have to deal with it. Third, the UI isn’t simple enough. With other teacher apps, sending a dm to the teacher is very easy. Here, I have to navigate where to send a message then type the teachers name in the search bar and also make sure I’m not sending my message to 22 other teachers. My suggested apps that are easy for everyone to use are REMIND or TALKING POINTS. You’re welcome.

My son’s camp is using this app and I really cannot recommend it. We have used all sorts of apps with our kids through school and none are as frustrating to navigate. The messaging feature works when it wants to. Sometimes it will not let me message at all. Sometimes it will only let me send a group message to all 56 families. Sometimes it works ok. We are supposed to message when we arrive for pick up and rarely will it pull up correctly for me to do so. The pictures also don’t all load so we miss out on seeing what our kids are up to all week. The announcements are also not displayed in an easy to use/see format. And just overall navigation of the app is frustrating- perhaps because the camp isn’t using all of the features. Regardless there are far better apps out there!
