Bold Smart Lock

Update 20/08/2021———————— Time has passed and nothing new showed up in the app, very disappointing, it brings this lock to the same level of cheap Chinese locks. Even some cheap Chinese lock have Apple Shortcuts and Bold doesnt. My initial review —————————— The design of the app is nice and the onboarding is great, but since the main goal is to control a smart lock many improvements could be done, like compatibility with Apple shortcuts (this is a must in my opinion), app watch app (with apple shortcuts I would even disregard having a watch app to be honest)

I like it. Was easy to install, easy to use. The only thing i miss is the possibility to open the lock online, from a browser. I forgot my phone and the clicker inside the apartment. I had to wait for my wife to cone home to let me in. If i could open it online the problem would have been easily solved. With this fuction it would be 5 stars.

The lock works well, once you manage to jump through some hoops; if the font size is set too large, a user you want to add cannot see the button at the bottom of the screen. Also, the bold connect seems to be only usable by the administrator of the lock. It would be nice if the admin could add others that can also open the lock using bold connect. Finally the documentation isn’t very clear, so some added help functions in the app would be handy.

Na de laatste firmware updates, werkt het automatisch “openen” niet meer goed. Met meerdere iPhone types getest. Allemaal op de laatste iOS versie. Hopelijk is dit gefixt of wordt dit gefixt want ik kon geen changelog vinden van de allerlaatste app update. Verzoek: zorg dat je de slot activatie kan wissen, zowel instelbaar na X tijd en handmatig. Waarom een activatie geschiedenis eindeloos bewaren… ?

Gebruikersvriendelijk is de app niet. Alleen bediening via deze app of veel te dure sleutelhangers en beroerd werkende internet kastje. Allemaal verplichte gegevens invullen, waarbij gezegd wordt dat er geen gegevens benodigd zijn; nog maar te zwijgen van de vele connectie problemen. Een normale handleiding is slecht voor handen. Een tijdelijke sleutel overdragen is een opgave van ongekende grootte, de persoon wie je deze toebedeelt moet al zijn gegevens met Bold delen, al is het maar voor 1 keer. Ik hoop dat ik het slot kan doorverkopen want snap totaal niet dat mensen hier positief over zijn. Wat is dit een puinhoop. Inmiddels (duurder) alternatief gevonden welke ook werkt met NFC en makkelijker te delen is zonder dat je al je persoonsgegevens hoeft af te dragen aan Bold.

Je moet je telefoon bij je hebben om de deur te openen met je apple watch. Dit zou ook zonder moeten kunnen. Daarnaast werkt auto activatie zeker niet altijd. Pincode is vrij lastig in te voeren. Ook jammer dat er geen nfc in zit om het slot te openen. Heb nu zelf maar een nfc tag tegen deur geplakt waardoor ik mn telefoon er alleen bij hoef te houden om het te openen via opdrachten app. Een Pluspunt is dat er geen motor in zit.

Sinds de laatste update werkt het niet meer via de Apple Watch. Graag oplossen

App blijft actief op de achtergrond en gebruikt batterij. Ook al is de auto activatie uitgeschakeld en locatie services. Meerdere malen aangegeven wordt niks mee gedaan. Gebeurt alleen als je in huis bent.

Kan helaas Bold app niet meer openen. App crasht direct na opstarten. Geprobeerd opnieuw te installeren maar helaas.

I like the simplicity of the solution. Applewatch and widgets are supported. Great! Some features I still would like to see are: homekit support, complications on applewatch, shortcuts on applewatch.
