Bookmobile Audiobook Player

Looks like developer abondaned this app. Ios Books has upgraded to be efficient.

When stopping and starting, often the book will loose its place and start playing from the start. You have to go to the bookmarks and go to the previous bookmark. A bit of a pain.

It used to be great, but is now somewhat broken due to lack of updates. Controls don’t respond like they used to. Doesn’t talk to the OS very well anymore. A shame. If they fix it, it can be great again, but in its current state I’m going to have to start looking elsewhere for my mp3 audiobooks.

I’m fed up with this app. I don’t care what limitations it has with apple, it’s pretty much unusable because every time you pause it or turn off your car or switch to headphones or basically breath too heavily it randomly selects a different place to start playing your book. It’s ridiculous. That is basically the main feature you need in an audiobook player. Remember where I left off! This garbage app can’t do that at all!

App highly listed in top audiobook reader lists so I gave it a try. I think the UI is unique and kinda cool. And i did find the app willing to open some audiobooks that Apple's Books app refused to work with. But seriously unusable. About 100% of time i start the app it would lose track of my progress and start playing from beginning. You have to jump into bookmarks tab to find some old auto bookmark that sometimes will get u back on track. This is seriously concerning isnt this the whole point of an audiobook reader over a plain mp3 player app? Second issue is the fast forward button that is offered at lock screen doesnt advance by 5 sec nor 30 sec as labeled but actuallt advanced by 30 minutes. Whole point of lock screen buttons is so you can rewind to something you missed a moment ago. But i have taught myself to try and remember never to press these buttons ehrn bookmobile is involved. Again this seems like a core competence. I am using iphone 12 pro. Whenever i can i try to avoid this app. I only use it if Books app cant open an audioobook and even then with great hesitation.. People just dont read so i dont expect anyone to find this review but maybe one or two users will find it helpful.

If you pause it with the button on your Airpods/EarPods, you’ll lose your place. Very annoying, but they aren’t updating this app anymore.

If I pause the app, it loses track position upon clicking play. I’ve used this app for several years, paid the in app purchase, figured this would be a temporary glitch. It seemed to be fixed for a brief period but alas. Hopefully the next paid app will work without hassle.

I used this for a few years but unfortunately it doesn’t really resume properly at all anymore and the problem just seems to be getting worse with each update. I imagine it has to do with iPhone updates but that really doesn’t make any difference in the end. It has become unusable.

Excellent wayback function, user friendly sleep timer, customizable skip controls, numerous ways to upload books (the web option is fantastic), supports multiple formats - mp3s become bookmarkable without needing to be converted to m4b...podcasts... As a well anointed player, Bookmobile is SO much better than what say, audible or apple offer. In short, a great app.

Some small-scale authors sell their audiobooks as a digital download zip folder, which you can’t normally open/access on an iPhone. This app actually lets you open the downloaded zip so you can listen to the book in-app without having to extract the files on the computer first. Pretty amazing! App functionality is great too. Also, I had trouble opening a book once, and contacted the developer, who got back to me right away and helped resolve the problem. Thank you!
