Brother P-touch Design&Print 2

I use this app to make wire and cable labels. Its limited in that you can only save 5 text boxes (labels) per session meaning you have to have one long label and cut it to size manually. Also there is no Font editing, you get one font and no styles in the custom label. When you first open the app you have a lot of colourful labels ideas thrown at you when all you want to do is type a label and print it. K.I.S.S. Why? When i save, and name a label, can i not edit the name?

The app P-Touch Design & Print suddenly wanted you to upgrade to a newer version 2 ...DO NOT DO SO! Once it has converted all your existing labels, it deletes the original version of the app then, on a subsequent use, it insists you agree to a complex multi screen user agreement. If you do not want to agree, it refuses to open the app thereby making it impossible to use the rather pricey label maker you have bought any more! Only by going back to an older iPhone (if you still have it) can you use the label maker again. Infuriating and of dubious ethical propriety if not actually in violation of consumer law in many jurisdictions!

Been using the label maker now for half a year. I can write and design my labels on the app, save them and print them off when I’m near the machine. Don’t have to carry it around with me like other label makers. It has been an intricate part of the office since it’s arrival!

I find it quite easy to use but I have a wish list of things I would like added. 1. Ability to print in landscape would be of great benefit. 2. Add barcodes and QR codes direct to the App instead of having to create it somewhere else and import it as a picture. 3. Progressive number tags would be helpful 4. Option to add today’s date Edit: I just found that iPrint & Label does most things I want pity it wasn’t mentioned in the manual or on the Brother site for my printer.

It takes upwards of 30-40 seconds to load the photo selector (eg to add an icon to a print) which makes the machine infuriating to use for efficient labelling. I have reported this and nothing has been fixed, over 3 months. iPhone 14 Pro.

App works well enough; but pairing with the label printer always requires a weird dance between this app and system settings. (Pairing in settings first causes the least grief, but it never ‘just works’.) Also. Custom glyphs can’t be imported… no ‘solar panels’ glyph, for example.

So easy to use.

Waste of tape

This is the best labeling machine I have ever bought love it 🙌🏽

After the update, now it doesn’t change the font size on 12mm tape, it’s almost impossible to read it’s so small
