My dad setup an automation to run the app everytime time the phone is connected to power, so now I don't forget. I only wish you could schedule the scheduler. Like if it's after 8pm, use the scheduler, but if I plug it in at 2pm, charge it to 80 or whatever right away. Have not had any Bluetooth issues.
I just received a Chargie A GE and a Chargie C. The iPhone charging itself (with app controlled cutoff at X%) seems to work ok. But I am NOT able to rename either of the devices via the iOS app. Hard to tell if it’s an app issue or a Chargie firmware issue (without sniffing BT, I suppose). My Chargie A GE then decided to start calling itself “Chargie Spock” (including it’s BT device name - so I know it’s capable of advertising a non-default BT name). However, the developer seems to be MIA, as I get no replies to my emails nor webpage submits regarding this issue behavior (except a first short reply that simple said “If you restart the iPhone, it will work.”). So, nice device but support appears to be non-existent.
It workis well.
With the bugs in the app, this thing can actually do more damage to your battery than not using it at all. Read some of the reviews about the app going wild and sucking iPhone batteries dry, or seriously overheating them. OMG!!! The app overheated the heck out of my own phone battery. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, until I read a few of the complaints. It’s a great idea–too bad they can’t write an app that works. This product has been on the market for years, yet they still have countless bugs. ***DANGEROUS BUGS*** DO *NOT* BUY THE PRODUCT OR USE THIS APP!!!!!
My family all use a chargie despite the short comings. Bluetooth is finicky but once you find a process to make it connect stick with it. A bit of a hassle each night when I plug it in but at least it keeps the battery from over charging and in the last year it’s done a good job of keeping our batteries in good shape. However a week ago or so the app updated and it wiped all our settings, schedules etc and over charged our batteries that night. Since the update the chargie now shows the battery percent off by 2% of actual battery charge. Kind of annoying. I keep hoping the app will get worked on and be more seamless or they’d release a version without the annoying Bluetooth and put an actual chip in the chargie to communicate with the phone. I’d gladly pay way more for it to work properly as the concept and idea behind the chargie is awesome. Also as others have stated make sure and kill the chargie app in the day as it drains the battery and even makes your phone laggy and hang up. I setup a shortcut on iPhone to open the app every time I plug in the power cord but the phone must be unlocked for it to work. Also we’ve used rental cars that did not have strong enough 12 volt outlets and the chargie would just go into an endless reboot cycle and not charge phone. We had to remove and just leave phone plugged directly in on the road trip.
Sometimes this does exactly what it claims. Other times it blows past the cut off level and goes to 100% and keeps it pegged there all night long. Exactly what the author preached against. Wish I hadn’t bothered buying them.
First of all the software suffers from coding error and no quality verification A simple example is the battery picture with the slider. Leave it in the back ground and return to it and suddenly the current charging number dissapear and the color changes… one can guess if that’s what you see what the coding inside that app must be equally bad.
And the other half, it charges to 100% like it's not plugged in, or it doesn't charge at all, and my phone is dead by the morning. Piece of garbage.
I love this device and use it daily. I give 2 stars because I feel that the developer over promised and lost interest in maintaining the app and bringing new features. We didn’t get any update in years and there are things in the app that could be better. Sending emails also doesn’t seem to help.
