Love this app a lot, but there’s a glitch, and if you are on the black side, and you pull up an opening with only 1 move, it’ll repeat infinitely. Please hope you can fix this, it’s really annoying.
I would love this app if there were a back button to look at the opening I just did.
Pros: Repetition, good amount of openings and variations, highlights incorrect moves on order. Cons: the long notation feels dated, and clunky. Missing some main openings, would love turn off sound when ringer is on, and cosmetic piece and board changes would be great. Would pay a couple of bucks for these benefits. Thank you for the time put into this app. It’s great and helped me move from 1320s into low 1400s.
Very difficult to read the notation. I wish it were in the standard algebraic notation. Example: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e5 3.e3 Bb4+ 4.Nd2 exd4 5.exd4 dxc4 6.Bxc4 Qxd4 7.a3 Ba5 8.Qa4+ Nc6 9.Nf3 Qf6 10.O-O Bd7 11.Ne4 Qe7 12.Re1 Bxe1 13.Nxe1 Nd4 14.Bg5 f6 15.Bf4 Bxa4 16.b3 Bxb3 17.Bd3 Nc2 18.Nxc2 O-O-O 19.Re1 Rxd3 20.Nb4 Rd4 21.Be3 Rxe4 22.Nd5 Bxd5 23.f3 Rxe3 24.Rxe3 Qxe3+ 25.Kf1 Bc4#
I always wanted an app like this. It has all the openings laid out and organized. This app just needs better UI and it would be perfect.
Excellent app for learning openings! The only problem is that it seems to be lacking several important openings, like the London System and the Stonewall Defense. The developers could fix this by either adding all the openings, or by allowing users to practice openings they enter the move for themselves.
Nicely done. Have just begun to use it but it seems to have quite a few openings and variations. Like that it highlights the right move if you hit the wrong piece. However, it really needs to have the option of algebraic notation.
I just downloaded this app and so far I like it a lot. It lets you play through the openings multiple times to get a sense of how each one works. It’s a little simplistic and the main controls can be awkward but over all I’m really happy with it. Something that would be helpful in future versions would be the option to read the logic behind some of the moves. Ex: I know what King’s Indian is, but it would be helpful to know the why behind each move and what the overall advantage is. But if you’re trying to get familiar with openings then yes, I would recommend this app
