Written Chinese is based on a pictographic system, as opposed to an alphabetical system. Words are not formed by letters, they are represented by characters. A Chinese character stands for a syllable, and is not a letter of an alphabet. For instance, 子 means 'child'. Each character is composed of strokes. For instance, the following character 女 meaning "woman" is composed of 3 strokes.

I think this approach is fantastic, BUT
I absolutely love this style of learning, the ease of the app, the fact that you can hear the word said and try to write it... I love everything about it EXCEPT that you are only give a small handful of words. I want this app to offer the complete list of all of the shapes that make up the language. THEN it would get five stars and I would gladly pay $20-$25 for that. As it is right now, I would not even pay $1 for this many words.
All around terrible
It doesn’t inform you of the meanings of the words.this app Natalya teaches you any thing. And why the heck is it 17+
Good idea, needs improvement
Doesn't tell you what the words even mean along with that the pronunciation of the words are unclear. The "upgrade" button is so close to the "refresh" button that I accidentally click it half the time- nice try.
