Choice of the Vampire

Сложно судить о целом, зная лишь часть. Предлагают историю о вампире длиной в два века, но не указывают что закончены две главы: повествование начинается в 1815 г. и обрывается в 1865-1866 гг., т.е. сразу после Гражданской войны. Я не знаток текстовых игр и вампирской тематики, но играется "Vampire" с интересом, точнее читается: игроку позволено направлять сюжет, который, впрочем, остается достаточно линейным. Кто действительно меняется, так это главный персонаж; в этом смысле "Choice..." - ролевая игра. Система развития персонажа оригинальна: кроме традиционных навыков (ум, ловкость etc.), есть двойные показатели (между жестокосердием и милосердием, адаптацией к современности и приверженностью к старине etc.). От них зависит какие действия и решения сможет выбрать игрок, и они же изменяют персонаж, так что он находится в постоянном развитии. Но главное - это создание оригинального характера; уже очень скоро у него появится имя, пол, прошлое, обнаружатся природные наклонности и стремления. С жанром определится сложно: несмотря на вампиров, едва ли это мистика; исторические реалии есть, но не они в центре внимания; для авантюрного романа не хватает напряженности действия; психологическая проза? - возможно, но скорее всего понемногу. Вместе с тем не чувствуется эклектики, все органично вплетается в рассказ, заставляя глубже погрузиться в историю человека, которого против воли превратили в вампира. Несколько удивило обозначение 17+. В общем, отличный замысел и неплохое начало, хотя удастся ли создателям полностью использовать потенциал альтернативности, сложно сказать. Ждем продолжения. Ах да, погуливали в школе ин.яз.? Зря...

I’ve been binging this game for days, and the ending I’ve gotten in St. Louis has me begging4 more !!!

Readers have been waiting on a finished storyline for years. It’s a great game, but I wouldn't buy it again because there’s no follow-through from the writers. Only invest in this series if you are okay with an infinite cliffhanger.

Somewhere around Saint Louis your save can be corrupted over time. Restoring a quicksave will speed this process up, eventually ensuring every value, including your name, is now inaccurate. A real bummer because by this time you’ve already invested in your character quite a bit. No idea what lies beyond the StL because my character was completely different on chapter change a third of the way through.

there’s a major bug: if you’re German, have a high level of strength, or are taught strength by Carothers, it restarts the game and doesn’t let you into chapter 4. Otherwise I love the game.

I started this game in high school and was surprised by how long it took for a second one. I love this game, it kept me glued to it the whole time, but I wish for faster releases, or an ending chapter instead of waiting almost 8 years for a new release.

Honestly kind of disappointed with this game. Wish the story focused more on the vampire aspect and less on the overall history. Quite wordy and times and to be honest, a bit boring. Choices did not feel like they impacted my story. Clotho arc was my favorite part but even that could have been done better. Below average game for a very above average studio. (Are you guys a studio or like authors? Not sure what to call you. “Studio-thors?” “Auth-ios?” 🤔)

I had trouble following the story, and there were so many characters that weren’t all listed in the sides, I lost track. That you couldn’t see what your relationship level was with people was a real issue too. Also, the best Choice of Games stories flow well. They are stories you want to see what happens next in. This one did not flow well at all, it couldn’t keep my attention very well.

The description of the game says that you begin a 200 year journey as a vampire but this first part only goes about 50 years or so. You have to purchase each part of the story individually and as of right now it isn’t even complete. Consider that you may never get to finish the story that you start. That being said, if they complete the story and put it in one app with one price tag, I would say that it would be worthwhile. The writing is decent and the inclusion of historical settings is appreciated.
