Last update seems to have stopped the app from working.
I don’t need an app to use my electricity… to encourage the pretence of caring for the environment.
I tried to find the privacy policy in the App and it's a link to the mission section on your website.
I like the idea of this app but I find it incredibly frustrating that you cannot correct the very obvious mistakes when it attributes carbon dioxide counts against certain transactions. For instance, I have a savings account I use for allocating my mortgage and bills commitments on payday, yet whenever I make this simple bank transfer, the algorithm this app uses thinks I’m making a huge home purchase and attributes 3/4 of my monthly carbon dioxide budget. Other bank transfers have literally 0 kgCO2 attributed to them, even for similar amounts of money so it’s really frustrating there’s no way of providing feedback to the algorithm for it to learn from! Bye for now… I hope this resolves before I return to this app
This app has real potential but has a few basic problems. 1. It’s not possible to update basic account details - name, email address etc. 2. Resetting passwords is a pain - the link that is sent does not always work with a click and needs copying and pasting into a browser. 3. Carbon footprint does not appear to update in real time. This might be a restriction on the Open Banking / Consent platform but I have other apps using this feature and data updates automatically.
For such a complex topic they make it simple enough and easy enough to understand without taking too many shortcuts. Sure it may not be 100% exact in terms of footprint but what matters is knowing and having options to reduce or take accountability.
Not for me, there is no way I’m giving up all of my banking details as part of the initial application, the developers need to build trust first. I’ve deleted the app 10 into the process. I love what they are trying to do but I am not willing to give up all my personal banking details. Good luck
I love the concept and the approach that using our financial data can identify consumption and carbon footprint. But the logic and maths just doesn’t seem to add up and there doesn’t seem to be an option to understand or correct so the data becomes less relevant and less actionable. e.g. I have a carbon footprint of 400kg a month from energy that is already zero carbon…
Finding out your carbon footprint based on your spending is a great idea. However, the amount of data to work with is limited and it’s very frustrating that the local M & S shop is recognised as BP. A slap to the face when you drive an EV! I would like to change the category myself. Another issue is that it must be impossible to know all retailers but there is a global system that could help called B Corps. However the B corp status is not used and a responsible carbon neutral company like Abel and Cole is lumped into the same category as Tesco. But the co-op works out better because it has co- op in the name, that’s a big flaw. The other thing that is missing are online services, eg the apps on your phone, starting with CoGo itself! That would also be interesting to know too. I’d also like to see more offset opportunities, the selection is very limited when there are more available directly on their partners website!
