This app is truly a graphic designers best friend. Is there any possibility of making a version for android phones and also adding new features that can also include Munsell m, focotone, Pantone and paint and materials color palettes??
Doesn’t work
Downloaded this just now on iPad Pro and it’s stuck on one color and appears unresponsive.
Scientific Uses
Great app! With some massaging of the data it can be used for colorimetric analysis of laboratory tests.
I have been using this app for a long time.
I use this app when I create liveries for cars. Quite often I have to convert a color from an image to something that I want to use on screen, or I have the color code and need to convert that to the screen. I quite simply could not do what I do without this app.
Doesn’t work
This app does not work. It downloads and doesn’t open. When i try to report the error, the server is not available.
not what I expected
very hard to navigate and NOT what I wanted at all. And yes I read the description.
I need to find customer support to get my money back but it appears that there is none.
Complement color?
The result for complement color appears to return a triadic result rather than the complementary color on the opposite side of the color wheel. After investigation, it is complementary for RGB mode rather than RYB color mode. RGB is the additive model of color used for adding colors of light, RYB is subtractive color used for reflected light.
Heart?
PLEASE fix this. I was able to save my first color I hearted, but the app won’t save anything else. I tap the heart icon and it just shows me the one previous color I saved and that’s it. Other than that, this app is great!
Please o please landscape mode
Would you please consider making it so the app works in landscape mode>. I use my iPad almost exclusively horizontally. It's super cumbersome in portrait mode, which is all your cool app has to offer. Please!
Best App of It's Kind
I really appreciate this application. I am not using it for professional purposes--I wish to stimulate my vision by teaching myself to look for color more. I have started by looking to subtle differences in shades and hues, such as in skin and eye colors, with which this application is tremendously helpful.
When I use this application, I don't use the camera feature, as I want to keep the photos I take, which so far this app does not seem to do. Instead, and easily enough, I choose to extract colors from images in my photo library.
Initially you can see the color you are looking at while extracting it from your image via a bar at the bottom & top of the screen; from there you can click the heart at the top of the screen to save a color, then keep extracting other colors (a nice feature that I just discovered, which allows you to pull many colors from the picture at once, then go back to review them), or you can click the check mark in the bottom right corner of the image to go to a color's details.
If you opt to go to the details, you'll be taken to a page that shows the color's identity value & percentages (as applicable) in HSB, RGB, CMYK and HEX; beneath which is displayed the name of the color according to a base dictionary for colors. Behind this, the screen's background displays the color.
I really recommend clicking on the 'information' button in the upper-right corner of this screen; it will show you the Luminance, Temperature, Colorfulness and Patone Value of your color, as well as shades, tints, tones and color schemes in mono, complementary, triad, tetrad, analogous and accented analogous. You'll also find related color names at the bottom of the screen from other color dictionaries, which is my favorite part!
There is still more to this application than I have been able to relate here, but these are the highlights. Absolutely a wonderful tool to keep on your iPad or iPhone if you are a designer, artist or anyone with a love for colors!
