'David Mead : Guitar Gym' is the latest app from David Mead, guitarist, teacher and author of the best-selling Guitar Workout books. The 'David Mead : Guitar Gym' is filled with the most effective guitar practice exercises to develop your technique and turn you into a better guitar player. Create your own daily routine to hone your skills and improve your playing.
The 60 core exercises are split into five categories, each containing three levels of difficulty. The categories cover Warm-Ups, Co-ordination, Ear Training, Stamina and Rhythm, but all will test your left and right hand capabilities to the limit.
In addition you can add extra categories via in-app purchases of the David Mead Guitar Gym expansion packs. Expansion Pack 1 adds 48 exercises in four all new categories - Arpeggios, Modes, Cross Picking and the Major Scale.
You can design your own custom workout by taking one exercise from each category to practice every day.
You can hear the exercises in advance and play along using the tab player and there's an adjustable metronome to keep you rhythmically on track.
There's a timer, too, to make sure you perform each exercise for the full two minutes. You can keep a record and view stats for each exercise to help track your progress.

A cornerstone to my improvement
I’ve found that when I want to learn a new lick or song my hands are already ready for it, dexterity-wise, which makes picking up new songs go much faster. I’ve been using it regularly for about four years. Unexpectedly, it greatly improved my tab reading. I usually use this as warm up to practice. I’ll do five various, two-minute exercises, it’s something I don’t have think much about and can just jump in and knock out a workout and then do whatever’s next.
A great app to help practice
This is a great free app to help give you things to actually practice rather than boring scales over and over. Highly recommend!
Great Practice App BUT...
Please please please for the love of user interface design add a + or - button to the tempo adjuster. It’s so frustrating trying to get the blasted slider to be at a specific tempo. Also, add a spot where I can take notes for each exercise and fix the whack rhythm displayed for the C303 exercise. Other than these I live this app. Thanks for making it.
Great addition to daily practice routine.
This app is a great addition to your daily guitar practice routine no matter what level of guitarist you are. I like the way each exercise is broken down to explain the theory involved.

Really useful
One of the few guitar apps I regularly use. Helps discipline my practicing and keeps me on track. Nothing fancy, just a useful tool.
