After filling up using this app I was told that the “link had been lost”. Unsure as to whether or not I had paid (I could have just driven off) I asked the cashier if they could confirm if I had paid. The cashier did not appear to understand my request and said that I had to pay. I paid the cashier £50 only to find that a few days later the app had also taken £50 from my account. I raised a query with ESSO, they told me to deal with Rontec who run the service station, after several weeks of investigation I have now been told to go back to ESSO. If you don’t want this headache then don’t use the app.
Watch and win
Watch and win for 60 points. Where is the ‘Watch and Win’ button to reach the video?
Crashes every time
Every time I try to pay for fuel it crashes and I have to go in and cancel the pump so no one else uses it
Do not use unless you have lots of money to spare!
I used this app for years and it was perfectly fine. In the last couple of months I’ve had the app crash three times but each time it has held my payment which I’ve then had to pay more money out to fill up physically in store. I’m having trouble getting the money back from my bank and now have to wait until the end of the month for it to be refunded!
Not that great
The worst part is how slow the process is once fuel has been dispensed! It took several minutes from the moment I finishing fuelling and returning the nozzle to the pump, for the app to register that I had paid and it says don’t leave until payment is confirmed!
The app just sat there telling me to fuel, which I had already done. I asked the staff and they didn’t know, as contrary to what the Esso guide states, they knew nothing about the dispensed fuel! They had nothing on their screen to confirm that fuel had been taken or that payment was successful.
If the app can immediately authorise the pump to dispense fuel, why can’t it immediately detect when the nozzle has been replaced? Why isn’t there a button to confirm you have finished fuelling?
As others have said it takes the full amount selected in the app straight away and doesn’t rectify the difference immediately, unlike pay at the pump.
Completing registration is a pain because you can’t paste values such as your nectar card number into the fields. You have to manually input them.
Honestly I’ll use it the eight times required to get all the bonus points, then I’ll go back to normal if it hasn’t improved by then.
Esso, please read this message
Esso, I use this to find a local Esso to a postcode, but when I put a postcode in that isn’t where I am, it doesn’t show exactly where that postcode is on the map. It just shows an overview of the area, what I am asking is if I was to enter a location or a postcode, could you put a pinpoint on the map to show that post code or area , and then I can see what Esso stations are around it that would be really helpful.
Thanks
Hardly ever works
Go through the whole process to be told someone else is using the pump. No one else is even on the forecourt!
Nectar rewards
The nectar rewards do not work through the app. This is the second time I have selected and confirmed to use 300 points and the price per litre has not been reduced. I will no longer be using the app and probably Esso stations too. I use Esso for the nectar rewards.
Useless
Often fails to work at the pump or does not deduct the 5p a litre when you have most definitely click to use nectar points! Rubbish
Latest issues
Was working brilliantly until this week. Not sure what they have been messing about with. Filled my car up and selected the 5p off nectar offer and was excited to also be getting the 6x points as well. Was extremely disappointed and annoyed once filled up as didn’t get the 5p per litre off, didn’t get the 6x bonus, and didn’t even get the normal nectar points. Pull your finger out Esso! Otherwise I will go back to filling up at Supermarkets
