EverForest: Merge Adventure

Looks cute but doesn’t go past the title screen.

I love that I get to play a fun game and help the environment at the same time without spending any money. Very rewarding!

Edited to update: After sending this review, a few hours later the app fixed itself and became playable again. (So it may have been a glitch with the update). Game is very enjoyable and developers respond to players. Looking forward to what’s to come Newest update makes game unplayable. I get the message “client version outdated, your client is out of date. Please go to the store and upgrade to the latest version.” Before playing the game I had updated it to the update from yesterday. Please fix.

I opened the Umi present box before the game gave me the present box tutorial. Now the tutorial progress resets every time I open the game, and if I made any progress in the game, that gets reset too. The Umi chest never comes back, and I can’t even reset my save data to fix this problem. There’s nothing I can do to fix this on my own, and I will never technically be able to play this ever again if this isn’t fixed. Please fix this ASAP

Unlike any merge game I have ever played and I’ve played lots wish energy and charges lasted longer but otherwise love it❤️

Very cool to see the forest come to life the more you play

So I may not be the target audience—mobile games as a genre (I guess) do a lot of things I don’t really like, so I’m not a big mobile game person. But I thought the idea of playing games and getting trees planted in the real world was awesome, so I really wanted to check this out. I downloaded it the day it came out on iPhone and I’ve spent a decent chunk of time with it since trying to grind to level 7, when you get your first real tree. I knew it was going to be a match-3 game, but for some reason I just assumed that because Carbon Counts was tying in cool real-world effects, they would do something more interesting with the game itself. But as far as I can tell (remember, not much of a mobile gamer), they didn’t. To me, this feels like a generic Freemium Mobile Match-3 v2 and that’s kind of disappointing. Miscellaneous thoughts: The art is cute, although I don’t especially care about the character stories. The board is minuscule on my phone screen (iPhone SE gen 2), which makes it hard to both see and target things. I appreciate that you can open info panels on each item to see their crafting paths. Level 7 feels like a bit of an odd choice to give you your first irl tree (I would have expected 5), and it feels pretty grindy to get there. I absolutely get that CC needs to make money, and I want them to, but I don’t find the game compelling enough to want to give them any of mine. If anything, I feel like they’re putting the squeeze on me earlier than they should, which I mildly resent. I feel like “relaxing puzzle games” are a dime a dozen, and I really wanted this one to be different, but it’s not. I want CC to succeed, considering they at least claim to be actively doing good work in the world. I like that and respect it and wish more people would do the same. But if I don’t find the game fun, I can’t see myself playing much once I hit that level 7 threshold. In short, it’s a mobile game. Not much else to distinguish it from the other ones like it besides things that don’t have anything to do with the game itself. If you like mobile games then you should absolutely check this one out, though.

Awesome game for all ages! Fun and has a good cause!

This game gets you addicting to bring a beautiful forest back to life. The fact that you can actually plant real trees while you are at it makes you feel like your gaming for a real cause which feels great.
