Fable: Books & TV

I never normally bother with reviews of apps but this one has blown me away. I’m so impressed with the features and functionality. The UI design is superb and easy to navigate without being boring and stiff. I really hope this app continues to do well and receive updates so many more people will join. Super cool.

I love the idea of the app and I‘ll probably keep using it but some features really need improvement: 1. I‘ve been getting random notifications about ebooks being available and if I accidentally click on them, the app becomes unusable for minutes (!) while it tries to download the book (not even restarting the app helps) 2. in-app notifications often don‘t go away even after clicking on them 3. it takes too many steps to update the reading progress on a book: clicking the menu button, clicking update progress, having to delete the existing progress before entering a new number because that doesn’t happen automatically. Other reading trackers make that so much more user-friendly (1-2 clicks rather than 4) 4. you can‘t switch between different editions of books like you can on GoodReads or StoryGraph On the plus side: I really do love the book club feature and the focus on community on fable. I also really like the book review flow which allows you to pick from a pre-configured list of categories what applied to the book

👎🏼 you don’t get to see the review you made if the book is in DNF (or in any other shelf other than ‘Finished’), which defeats the point of tracking it 👎🏼 there’s no way to switch between versions of the book like on GoodReads 👎🏼 when the data was imported, it only imported my ‘finished date’ but not my ‘start date’. i had to manually input that once again, it was very annoying 👎🏼 there’s no way to add multiple dates read, so technically you’re only allowed to read every book once 👎🏼 there’s no way to import data from IMDB (which is also from Amazon, like GoodReads) so you have to manually input your watch data 👎🏼 there’s no way to track movies 👎🏼 the different versions of the books that you can look up are quite confusing, you won’t be sure which is the official one 🛠️ on GoodReads you could search up different titles on different tabs and the data maintains even if you click off (e.g. ‘Home’ to look up Book 1, ‘My Books’ to look up Book 2 etc.) but you cannot do that here 🛠️ why stop at tracking shows and not track movies as well? and why is there no way to import that data from somewhere else like IMDB or Letterboxd? 🛠️ maybe a way to customise the theme colours of the UI would be great 🛠️ there should be a search bar for your Library page to search for books you have quicker ‘Click to view in library’ should take me directly to the book i’d just interacted with, instead of getting me to find the shelf and find the book again myself 🛠️ there should be a way to organise and view books by its author or series, and a way for me to click into the series’ page from the book’s page (like GoodReads) 👍🏼 very much appreciated the GoodReads data import 👍🏼 i love the detailed reviews page with the 0.5 star system and emoji reactions 👍🏼 the community page is very well-made, gives you a nice overview of what people generally think, and you can look at posts to see fans appreciating the book, even if it’s one you didn’t enjoy 👍🏼 the UI is seamless and very nice to look at and use 👍🏼 i really like the beautiful ‘Reading Stats’ page with the reader summary, it’s very cute and gives a nice overview of my own stats 👍🏼 the ‘shortlist’ feature is very a useful visual way to motivate you to read the books you have piled up 👍🏼 the social media aspect of this is very well done, there are always up-to-date posts of videos or photos. it feels like a nicer version of Twitter 👍🏼 the Clubs are also very easily accessible, you can chat and make friends instantly over the media of

I love this app because it is really friendly for everyone and helps me personally connect with my people. You can join spoiler free book clubs and be able to find new books and opinions on books that are not effected by the internet so you find books that are less in trend but just as good!

What a lovely story. Really enjoyed this book.

This app is book heaven for book readers to explore different books, socialise offer opinions without the pressure of generic social media apps. It’s a lovely app with no drama, full of book clubs to suit everyone’s taste. I’ve discovered a few books from conversations with fellow book readers on the app and it was nice to discuss this throughout with people. I absolutely adore this app and it makes reading even more enjoyable for me

Fable has made it so easy for me to find likeminded readers and end up with an even bigger list of books to read. They keep updating the app and adding more features which is amazing (specifically the reading stats). Definitely a must if you’re bored of GoodReads

The U.K. amazon link doesn’t work so can’t import all the kindle books read/ing. Shame, I was really interested for a while
