Advertised but still not available Globally
The app and website first says it is to be rolled out globally in end of Feb 2024; then said 25th March 2024. Today is 27th March 2024, but still not available outside of Europe, USA, Switzerland yet. It tells something about whether it is trustworthy and serious, or just to get more people for app registrations for getting investors. Updated in April 2024: the coverage is expanded and finally able to install and activate the eSIM. Mine is a 中華電信 (Chonghwa Telecom) from Taiwan and I needed to choose manually one of the disguised “Firsty” network till one of it worked. The 100Mb of free data is quickly depleted while testing with Speedtest. Speed showed 20-40 Mbps within the data. After that you can watch 30 seconds of ads to get 45 minutes of connection at reduced speed (0.03-0.13 Mbps tested). There is a fundamental issue with this eSIM function now. If you are relying on it as the only data connection outside of WiFI range. You cannot watch free ads since you don’t have internet, thus you won’t get the free 45 minutes. The “Firsty Fast” plan of daily subscription at Euro 2.95 is not attractive for thrifty user since other SIM or eSIMs will also buy you 1 to 10Gb of data with 1 to 30 days validity probably. Thus unless the above issue is firstly fixed, this app’s advertised free usage is still more like a trick. Updated in May 2024: With new app update the initial connection to watch ads to get 45 minutes of connectivity seems fixed. The speed is still heavily throttled and tested to be <0.07Mbps (I think a stable connection with 0.10Mbps is fair). The automatic “network selection“ still doesn’t work and have to blindly and manually select one by one of the masked “Firsty” networks till one is 4G and works. Updated review star to 4.
