What a joke
Garmin should be ashamed of their products. I’ve owned two of their Dezl gps units which are mediocre at best. PC’s from the 80’s are faster than these over priced gadgets they sell. With a name like garmin you’d expect quality, reliability and speed. Being a sucker for punishment I bought the garmin elog device thinking how bad can it be. Oh lord, just when you think things can’t get worse oh they do! I thought there’s no way the tech developers at garmin could screw things up any worse and yet they did. This elog is horrendous, sure it connects fine and the actual device has fancy lights but it starts sounding off alarms for reasons still unknown. The app layout along with the way you have to navigate your way around to try and start a pretrip safety is just nuts. It’s far from simple and so very far from user friendly. 3 different times in less than 5 minutes the app either crashed or froze up me. My patience only allowed me about 25min of playing around before I gave up and packaged it up. They proudly promote the device as “subscription free” but what good is subscription free if it’s not useable. I also read bad reviews about trying to get customer service and honestly I didn’t want to frustrate myself anymore so I didn’t bother. You can’t fix a poorly developed app, plain and simple. I’ll definitely be sticking with my Motive ELD. Sure it’s a little pricey but customer service has been great and the functionality and and both app and web service are spot on. Never a glitch and so easy to navigate. I can go on duty, create truck and trailer pretrip safety in less than 30seconds. Everything else for the rest of the day requires no attention from me, it just works
