Halo Collar

Constantly loses connection and is unable to apply feedback or locate my dog.

Technology is impressive, but clearly still has a ways to go to be as functional as advertised.

Great service from Monica - thanks so much for addressing the issues we have been having with our collar and getting the warranty process started promptly.

I wish the ‘zap’ was a bit stronger. My dogs still manage to get out of the property sometimes. It’s like they’re thinking, ‘A few seconds of pain is worth the freedom!’ I’d love it if the ‘zap’ made them think twice about going for that wild experience again. That said, the service is fantastic – it’s great to have such quick and personal support.

I love dealing with the halo support team. It’s quick and easy to get in contact with them, they are patient with and are very helpful!

We have a large family property to let our dogs run off leash. After they took themselves for a walk off our property, we invested in Halo. We were able to make boundary lines around the entire property so the dogs can still run free and off leash but are protected and stay safe. We recently ran into some issues with the collar. We contacted Halo through the dog park and they were great to deal with and resolved our issues quickly.

I feel like these collars have kept my dogs safe and away from the hwy. I do wish they had a stronger shock though. My dogs don’t even feel it and if they do they ignore it completely at times. I can’t bring myself to tighten the collars anymore than they are.

For a while customer service was awful. It has since gotten better and I now love my collar and recommend it to people.

This a long review, so don’t read if you don’t want to. I just feel I need to share. The Halo collar is exactly what I was looking for. I have trained dogs on the invisible fence, a wire underground, but wanted/ needed something that can easily be changed, plus we live on a 700 acre farm, I’m not burying wire all around that, and the wire kept getting dug up by work that was being done on the farm. The Halo collar was a bit on the expensive side, but not as much as Spot On. But well worth it. And their customer service I have found so far is amazing. The training on the other hand…… It says not to skip any part of the training. Maverick was used to the collar being on him pretty quickly, it’s not terribly big or heavy.” He is a two year old Boston Terrier, on a small size collar. Training starts indoors with a beacon, and your dog on a leash. That part didn’t work for Maverick. He is right by my side when on a leash. Won’t move away from me, even when there are treats available. I taught him to “leave it”. So he doesn’t go after things. Then you are supposed to let your dog explore off the leash. Maverick doesn’t need to explore inside. He just did his regular thing. When he got buzzed once from his collar he wasn’t interested at all in going there again. It says keep this going on for three days. That was skipped. Then we had to do the “whistling”. That did nothing as well. He did not care that his collar was talking or whistling at him. We had to do that for a few days, tried for a day, no reaction whatsoever from Maverick, so that was skipped as well. So basically we are on day five of training because I skipped parts, which I know we aren’t supposed to do. I was a little down hearted. I didn’t want to return it, I wanted it to work. So I watched the rest of the training videos, put the collar on Maverick, made a map on my phone and walked with Maverick around his perimeter, kind of yanked on his leash when it looked like he was close to it. I did this three times. He didn’t really go close to the edge at all. So I took the leash off and let him run and play. He is so happy not being tied up anymore, and has only been outside his area once in a week, which resulted in a zap. We have another dog, who isn’t a runner, just chills around the farmyard so no collar needed for him, but when they play together with toys or treats, Gunner will run out onto the driveway but Maverick will stay on the grass where he is now supposed to.
