Harvest: Track Time & Invoice

With a recent update Harvest keeps encountering sync problems. It then shows entries that may need to be updated. And there is no way to see what the differences between the original entry and the un-synced entry. This has lead to great uncertainty with the time that was tracked. I’ve had to start keeping an additional record of tracked time. On one occasion I noticed that Harvest cut my tracked hours by 50%. On another occasion they took a 3.75 hour job and and added an addional 10 hours. Completely unacceptable.

For me, the best part of this service occurs on the back end, tallying the hours logged using the app. You can log your hours thru the web or the iPhone app, and then feed that info into your projects and ultimately into your invoices. The iPhone app works well for capturing your hours with timers, but is stripped down when it comes to reporting & management - the web interface is much more full featured for that, and is where you need to do the setup for your invoicing and other project & reporting related features. So, I find the iPhone app an indispensable complement to the HarvestApp service as a whole, and I find the service subscription cost reasonable (under $150/yr) given the ease it allows for invoicing, project tracking and historical review of work detail. I’ve had some issues over the years as the develop has changed features, but they’ve been pretty responsive to user feedback to address problems.

I’ve been using Harvest for several years and what I love about it is that it is dependable and just works. New features are added slowly and deliberately; they focus on added core value rather than shiny new features. Currently I use the iOS app, the Mac app, and the web app.

It’s very easy to use. It does exactly what I need for tracking time and invoicing.

I’ve been using Harvest Time Tracker for a while now, and overall, it’s a pretty solid tool for tracking work hours and managing projects. It’s super user-friendly, and I love how it helps me keep all my time organized, especially when juggling multiple projects. One of the best features is how easy it is to track time with just a click. You can start and stop timers for different tasks or projects, making it simple to see where your time goes. There’s also a detailed reporting feature, so you can see exactly how much time you’ve spent on each project, which helps with billing clients or just understanding where your day went. The integration options are also pretty cool. It syncs up nicely with other tools like Trello, Asana, and QuickBooks, which is super handy if you’re already using those for project management or accounting. This makes it easy to transfer data and keep everything in one place. However, I think there’s room for improvement, especially with integrating voice assistants like Siri or Google. Imagine just saying, “Hey Siri, start tracking for the Creative Project 010” or “Hey Google, start time tracking for Web Design Project 0900.” That would save a ton of time and be a real game-changer, especially for those of us who are always on the go. It’d be even better if there were an Apple Watch app – having that quick access on your wrist would make it super convenient when you’re in the middle of something and need to log your time without any hassle. In summary, Harvest Time Tracker is a great tool for managing your time and projects efficiently. It’s easy to use, offers detailed reporting, and has some excellent integrations. But if they could add Siri or Google Assistant functionality and an Apple Watch feature, it would really take it to the next level. Highly recommend it for freelancers, agencies, or anyone who needs to keep their time organized!

Life changing. Would love an Apple Watch app to start and stop tracking time for projects.

Overall, this is a good timer. I do have a problem, trusting it, though. At the end of the day, I have to click back through all of the projects I worked on to make sure the timer updates them. When I haven’t done this, the next day I’ve noticed that the timer has fewer hours than I actually put in. This could be to do with my computer though because the other person in my office that uses harvest doesn’t have this problem.

Simple to use yet full featured. We use Harvest as an integral part of our real estate brokerage’s training, development and compensation plan for new agents. The benefits are enormous not only for our team’s compensation plan but also as a tool for understanding efficiency with our time and seeing the types of deals/clients who are not profitable

I find no way to manage projects or tasks, yet the help describes how to “Manage/Tasks”. There is no such option. Am I missing something obvious, or is this app design at it’s poorest?
