Hatch - Focus Timer for Study

I really love the app and it helps me a lot while studying for tests because i can get really distracted:)

It’s a pretty good app but I hope u can let the timer still run while the phone is off And let us choose more timings

this app is quite effective in motivating the user to concentrate at the task on hand and i would definitely recommend it. however there are some issues that would make the user quite frustrated :( when my phone is locked/switched off (not power off), the app detects this as leaving the app, and i dont have enough time to unlock my phone and save the egg, which is very frustrating especially towards the end of long focus goals. this has been happening very frequently,, please fix it!! thank you :) a suggestion i have would be to give the user a small reward for every maybe 10? minutes that they stay focused!! sometimes we set goals and arent able to achieve them because something urgent crops up like a message we need to reply to, and this causes us to leave the app and break the egg because there isnt enough time to switch back to the correct app. this makes sure that if the user sets a 120min goal and maybe manage to complete only 100min, their effort wont go to waste! i think it’s important to support the motivation to set higher goals this way!!

the moment your phone locks, the egg cracks. i feel like the app should restrict the user from using other apps (social media etc) and not drain the battery as the users can’t lock their phones while studying

i love the app except for the fact of the “give up” button. i think that’s for taunting to give up and procrastinate. Personally, i feel like the “give up” button should be taken away so that students or users don’t get tempted to give up easily when focusing on their work. Just an opinion :)

I would love it if we could do something with those extra creatures we collected or something with our focus energy, perhaps to upgrade them or something.

I think that waiting for the egg to hatch is a little bit boring....why don’t u add a change in color for different eggs or do a different action for the eggs instead of just shaking when they are about to hatch. Besides that, you could also let users who want to give up have a chance to continue by giving more interesting and motivational encouragements unless they press the give up button again then you can let the egg disappear. In addition, letting the animals have a friendly battle every once in a while after like a few hours would be good to let the users relief any stress or boredom. They could also get points if the user wins a battle!!! Maybe having a group discussion among the users would also be good if someone doesn’t know how to do a subject or having a dictionary in the app because I’m not allowed to go to google or any other app and search a meaning of a word because my egg will disappear. Having different animals instead of the same in different sectors (Common, Rare, Legendary, and so on)would also be recommended. A weekly or daily mystery box could also be added to let the users have food or points. Food for the animals to evolve would be super cool! All in all I hope that these pointers could help improve the app for many users to enjoy!

Don’t get me wrong, I like the app structure. I like how it’s a hatching game and how longer sessions give you rarer pets… but I hate the other features. First, no breaks. I get that some people might ask, well why can’t I just use the focus timer as a break? For me, it doesn’t provide the same satisfaction because I get a egg as a reward while the break IS supposed to be the break. Plus, this also unmotivates me as it makes me collect eggs faster (will quit this timer after collecting all pets). Second, the radio from the tutorial is nowhere to be found. Third, I hate how there’s no settings, no toggle, NOTHING. Fourth, there’s no alarm. Even if I finish my session, I can’t detect that I did because it doesn’t signal me. This brings me to my fourth issue, it deletes my timer when I return back to the app. Sometimes, I like to check the alarm to see how much time I have left after a assignment is finished. Well, I did just that, and I got JUMPSCARED by a void cutscenes with LOUD sounds (I have heart problems, don’t do me like this). This is SUPER annoying and is the reason why I’m quitting this app. Overall, this app barely even has the bare minimum.
