This app does not feel like it was designed for end users. But rather designed by a tech person, possibly with a Windows/networking background, for a certain type of tech person. The app requires the user to log back in with username and password every 30 days. Really? Every 30 days? For some wave pumps? Seems much more like an designer’s/team’s design flex rather than practical and useful for users. The controller nearly always remains connected to the cloud. When a connection is lost for 15 mins +/- a notification from the app is displayed. Best use of this is it lets me know WiFi is being wonky. The function of the pumps are unaffected. When WiFi is down the app does allow pump connection via blue tooth. I like the products associated with the app, but the app is “meh.” Two stars. One star lost because of the GUI. An additional two stars lost because of the forced log out and reauthorization every 30 days.
Got a water level sensor and a temperature probe about a year ago and I really like knowing my tank’s (freshwater) status and that it’s safe, love the alert features too, only downside is sometimes you have to sign back into your account when you open the app which I could see potentially being an issue.
Would be great to have some functionality on a watch app…even if only to switch modes to feed or water change. Otherwise a good app.
Interface is trash, support for this company is trash, paid $300 for a icecap gyro 2k a few years ago and it worked great. Now it says I need to update firmware for it to work but has no update to select. So now I’m stuck with a fully inoperable pump and a controller that has no software. I’m unable to use a previous version of firmware because the app and desktop version won’t let me select a device to make any changes to unless I update it, and am unable to update it without selecting a device. So I’m stuck in a catch 22 and a useless $300 controller and pump. Would give less than 1 star if I was able to.
Wave makers should not claim to be WiFi, they are not. I will try to return the IceCap because of false advertising. Don’t buy an icecap hydros control er. Their app team keeps spitting out what they call updates but just makes them worse. Every update causes a new problem. Their developers are horrible.
So awful. Awful pump, awful app. I’ve had the pump for MONTHS and it never worked with the app. I decided to try once again today to try and link it by resetting the app to factory settings - and the whole pump died. It stopped working & I could not get it to start up again for the LIFE of me. Almost destroyed my whole tank & i’m so happy I had a backup powerhead. App interface is confusing and uses jargon i’ve never heard before. Awful. Straight into the trash.
Since the app was updated to only run on IOS 15.0 or higher, it will no longer work on my older iPad Mini since it’s on IOS 12.5.6 and is the highest it will go. I had it working perfectly fine about a month or 2 ago and now my iPad is useless since I only used it for controlling my Hydros Control 3. Pretty disappointed honestly and wish older devices were supported longer since this iPad is in mint condition.
Being a first time controller user I couldn’t have gone with a better choice than the hydros. The app is easy to understand and use, and regardless of your expertise in controllers, you’ll be up and running from day one. Nice job!!
Hydros is new, and rn generally for people that are ok with both sides that coin. Love the cloud connect. Especially as I travel. Frustrated that rn the app is having issues loading my collective, "waiting for config," but the web app works great. Am excitedfor / hopeful Coralvue will deliver on: - More 3rd party support. Love that wave engines can plug right in and are controlled through the collective. Let's get more of this with return pumps, skimmers, etc. - More login options like face id - More availability for the Focustronic Mastertronic automatic water tester / or an "in house option" or something. Only thing missing to really be able to be #1 in this space is this. (understand this is not fully in coralvues control at the moment, but feedback they need to hear to really be competitive)
