I Learn Chinese Characters

If you are learning Chinese you need this app. It's very interactive and has very detailed explanations of each character, making it easier to remember each one. It breaks you in very easily before getting quite heavy around the fifth unit. The tests are excellent and use good examples of the newly learned characters to get you used to seeing them used normally. I use this with a little Chinese character writing book for extra practice and I can read more and more Chinese now. Buy this app if you are serious about studying Chinese and you will never look back.

This is a good app for learning Chinese. It doesn't have any bid problems, but it would be nice to be able to hear the pronunciation whilst writing them and to be able to test if you remember how to write them, without the watermark.

Very comprehensive app

This is a fantastic piece of software for learning Chinese vocabulary. It is mostly focused on basic vocab, so is probably not the best for advanced students. But this can handle beginners up to intermediate with ease. When you look at the character page, there are words and phrases that cover the very basic to somewhat obscure. Do beginners need to know idioms and academic words? Probably not, but it's fun anyway. The grouping of characters by subject also prevents that somewhat random list you get if you try to learn them in some sort of "logical" order. It is also a lot easier to read the characters with the type settings to make them bigger. (they even emailed me to tell me of the change! Now THAT'S customer service!) This software should not be the only method you have of learning the language. It is not possible to do drills and doesn't focus on grammar much. But, it is a useful way of framing the language and learning more about characters you do already know. There are 22 different additional words and phrases linked just to yi (1). Now that's thorough. RECOMMEND!!!!! Worth every penny.

It is very useful to see how the shape of many characters evolved and it helps to remember them. A very useful app.

I am learning mandarin at Glasgow University. I have tried a number off apps, some good and others very iffy. This one complements my studies superbly by giving background explanations to the radicals and each area is covered extremely well. The tests at the end are well thought out. For the money ( even a thrice the price ) this is a bargain. As I said at the beginning, brilliant !
