IDrive Photo Backup

As a college student, I have to say I'm pretty impressed with IDrive. It has been a lifesaver for me when it comes to backing up all my important files. I've been using it on my iPhone 14 max pro, the new Motorola flip Razor, and even my iMac with no issues. Sure, the interface could use a little sprucing up, but for the price, it does exactly what I need it to do. Before getting IDrive, I had invested in a 6tb external storage device. Luckily, IDrive was able to back up all my files from that device because it's now unrecoverable. That alone makes me a happy customer. Plus, it's more budget-friendly compared to other backup services I've looked into. Overall, I'd definitely recommend IDrive to any fellow college students looking for a reliable backup solution.

I went to retrieve a photo I know I had in my backup and the app keeps crashing and there is not one picture that is loading. What a waste of a yearly subscription. Going back to google photos

What’s going on with this app? It won’t open on my iPhone.

Love the app

App upload 20 to 50 photos / videos then freezes. Tried the report problem option, you entered the problem and all it does is create an email with your comments as the subject NOT the body and there is no TO: address. No idea who to send this to but not very useful all the way around.

I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t have a leave my backup even if I deleted photos on my phone. At least I can’t find that feature. I want to transfer my photos to a secure back up and remove them from my phone. That’s what I didn’t like about google photos.

I’ve been using this app for over a year. The app works well except that it will not back up my photos unless the app is in the foreground. If swipe away from the app and leave it open, it will never back up my photos. In comparison, Amazon photos does this without a problem. I leave both apps open in the background. Amazon Photos always backs up my pictures while idrive never does till I open get the app in the foreground. Another problem is the way the pictures are organized. They assign a row per day even if there is a single photo in one day. This is very wasteful visually. They need to add a compact view mode or at least group multiple days together if there’s only a handful of pictures in a day. Again, this is something that Amazon photos does beautifully. Two things going for this app is 1) the price and 2) fastest upload speed of any app I’ve tried.
