Igloo is great. It has all the right options to customize the client without over-complicating things. Definitely worth paying for in my book.
The previous version was great. This new one sucks big time. Who ever reinvented it must have been smoking pot. You can’t see the names of people in chat room, if you search for a room and click on it nothing happens. Already paid for the first one, not going to pay again, especially for something inferior!
Really enjoyed the classic version, gave just enough features for me to enjoy it the few times a year I need IRC for something. Not really interested in paying for a app I use 3 times a year. I am sure the new version is sweet.
Was a happy user of previous edition, took an update, now requiring me to upgrade (and pay for the upgrade). I was considering the upgrade (and open to paying), however being forced to puts a bad taste in my mouth, and I will pursue alternatives (pay or not). I am fine with no further updates to what is now the “classic” edition - what I am not fine with is being forced to pay for an upgrade that I do not want. Response to dev: There is no requirement to deprecate and halt support. Just leave as is. The That is the problem - removing access for something that was paid for and doesn’t need further revisions. This is coming from a software development professional - you are clearly frustrating your customers, and I agree with the other review - cash grab. I was open to paying on the new app until this happened, and now will not. Further response: your behaviour and responses demonstrate exactly what I am indicating.
Nice clean app gets an update. It doesn’t have all the features the old one does, but there is work being done to catch up and the developer has been very responsive to the issues I have and is looking into them.
Best IRC client on iOS. All that is missing to be a complete client is a working implementation of IRCv3's Chat History extension. I would recommend adding optional donation methods once a license has been purchased to fund continued development.
This app requires a license. You get a free 14 day license, but this should be made clear prior to installation. Not doing so is deceptive and rude. Lifetime license is $20 at the time of writing, subscription is less (but who wants to pay indefinitely for an IRC client?). The biggest problem and why I said it was nearly unusable in the title is that, through no fault of the developer, you cannot stay connected unless the app has focus and does not go to sleep. You will not receive messages for more than 30 seconds if the app is running in the background or if the screen turns off. For an IRC client, this limitation makes it impractical at best and utterly useless at worst. This is Apple’s fault, not the developer, but it still means the app gets less stars. Lack of functionality is relevant no matter whose fault it is. If you are going to do nothing but talk in IRC channels the entire time you are connected, and you don’t mind paying heftily for an IRC client, then this is the app for you. Otherwise… use a different device. Oh, and complain to Apple, because their limitation is ridiculous. Edit: the apps functionality and usability is relevant no matter whose fault it is. No one and no thing is above criticism. Professional this apps developer is not. Thank you for providing further evidence about what kind of person you are. It’s always amusing how the people with the least understanding are the ones most certain they do and the first to accuse everyone else.
I’ve been a user since late V1 into V2. While the move to V3 had a few bumps, the developers have been really responsive it getting it almost back to all the features of V2 all the while making it a lot more stable. When I did have an issue with iPad view support very early on in V3, they had a patch out within a day! I’d still like an ignore feature like V2 had, and there’s some wonkiness with the “whois/whowas” with saved conversations that can be a little annoying. But overall, I’ve used a lot of IRC clients for iOS (Turbo, Colloquy, LimeChat, etc), and this has routinely been the most stable and feature-rich among them. I’ve come to consistently rely on it and am grateful it keeps getting better. Thanks!
I love the fact that this app is being actively developed and user requests are considered in future updates.
