Immersi - Learn Chinese

So far, I really like the app. The AI passages are pretty unnatural sounding, but they still help you get a sense of grammar and new vocabulary. However, the YouTube videos are super helpful. They have a lot of super great comprehensible input and it’s nice to be able to check the words you don’t know and then go back and listen again. So I’ve been using this as a scrolling app vs flashcards and it’s a lot more engaging.. I do not know the developers personally of this app. But you can really tell they put their heart into making a lot of improvements in this app. Absolutely love the new translations, and how they explain how every character confused in the context of the sentence. Its almost a perfect app. But I am still not a fan of the AI translation… honestly probably be better if they just hired some native speakers to record the passages.

I use Du Chinese for reading practice, but Immersi is basically Du Chinese with video! You get similar help with translations and word explanations, but you’re watching YouTube instead of reading. If you like Du Chinese, check out Immersi!

Didn’t expect much but this is cool! It picks videos at my level, and I’m actually understanding more and more. Would be nice if they had better ways to track progress. I feel like I’m learning because I’m picking up more words, but it’s hard to tell how much

i’ve been watching youtube for a while now to help me learn mandarin. love seeing some of my favorite channels on here like story learning w/ annie and lazy chinese! having the clickable captions and being able to look up words on the spot is really helpful

I saw this app on Reddit and downloaded it to help brush up on my Chinese. I think it’s really helpful to learn from actual videos! Has replaced doom-scrolling TikTok for me before I go to sleep every night.

Took Mandarin in high school and have been trying to pick it up again after going to Taiwan last year! Took some time for the videos to be at the right level for me, but overall I love the feed style of the app! Watching videos really helps with my listening/understanding skills. Sometimes I’ll pause the videos and repeat sentences out loud to practice speaking too. Pretty happy with this app so far and excited to keep using it!
