inkl: News without paywalls

Excellent source of comprehensive news that can be trusted. Thanks!

Claims to be unbias but seems to draw a huge amount of stories from the “national” newspaper a propaganda leaflet on behalf of the Scottish government. I’d suggest this really isn’t a “trusted news source” one should be including in an app like this. I can’t see anywhere to turn it off either. I will be uninstalling.

Some nice well reported articles in there, no real difference to other new outlets though. The “Our Picks” section rather unfortunately and very clearly shows the editors agenda though, predictable agenda pushing whilst avoiding real, hard issues.

I was expecting some USP like really good UX or recommendation algorithms but nothing. Content discovery is ok but not brilliant due to UI design, recommendations are ok but worse than Google news.

The customer service side of inkl is very slow to respond, if they do at all. The two step verification is so slow that it times out in between sending the request and receiving the verification email. The app itself works fine though

A wonderful variety of stories (with no adverts), easy to use, a brilliant service well worth the very reasonable monthly fee 5/5.

This idea of a combined news feed had been tried a few times over the years and it would appear the inkl team has done it's research first; the app is solid with the option to really dial down the font size. It's smooth and easy to navigate. The price is in the sweet spot with a range of top titles and local news, and they do an excellent job of filtering out today's constant "news" noise. It's like what news used to be; what is supposed to be. Long may it continue.

This has the potential to be a great news app. The one drawback experienced is that the topic headings at the top of the screen on the iPad don’t work. They do on the iPhone but, as I prefer the larger screen to read the articles, this is of lesser benefit. Please could this issue be fixed.

For a flat monthly fee the service and range of news sources is brilliant. Is also a pleasure to read without adverts and click bait, thank you.

some of the missing features that make it hard to use it as my main news app are the ability to surf a specific source, and region-focused groups or hashtags that can be used to filter news.
