I like the idea of learning Japanese by playing a game. Is very interactive and all mini games helps to memorize better the language. I would recommend this app for beginners

Positives: I like the art. I like the idea of there being an adventure of sorts. I genuinely think you can learn from this app. Negatives: The app is painfully slow and sluggish, everything just moves along at a snails pace not just the menu and UI but the lessons too, you’ll do a lesson and the cards will hang around way too long, the animation is painfully slow and the keyboard input is painfully slow and if you accidentally select the wrong answer by mistake your subjected to repeats of the item answer with seemingly no way to skip the unneeded explanation. Slowness is particularly annoying when you know probably 98% of all vocab for probably the next several handfuls of levels (if not the entire app) but can’t skip ahead due to gaps in knowledge in other areas such as grammar. I hate hate hate the keyboard, it does not use my IOS default keyboard but instead some variant which has a completely different layout… why? Don’t know… I try to switch to the Japanese keyboard but I seemingly only have one other Hiragana option which isn’t my preference (despite having more setup for use in IOS) . I also do not like the way the romaji is interpreted, partly because of the omission of the “x” due to the layout preventing me from making kana small in my usual (and standard almost everywhere else) way but also no self terminating ん when hitting space or other which can lead to frustrations as well as other interpretation “quirks” and as I mentioned earlier making unintentional errors and being subjected to to the painfully slow correction card animations and the problem being exacerbated by the English keys not being where I’m used to. I wish there was more character interactions. At the beginning there was a handful of conversations with characters at a few locations such as the arcade and temple etc. I found this to be a fun way to keep me motivated, Perhaps with the prospect being that the Japanese learned would maybe be utilised later in these interactions…. But since the start and I’m several levels in to the app now and there has been no further interactions and I’m wondering if there will ever be more, which then has me wondering what the point in these character and locations even was?? Maybe more to come in later levels but I’m not a psychic unfortunately ;) and tbh not sure I’ll stick around to find out. I thought the arcade would be great but that was the biggest disappointment if I’m being honest, Not to be harsh but I wouldn’t really call them

Hello, i just wanted to express how much i adore this app and that this is the most fun i’ve ever had learning japanese! i really hope this app continues to produce more content and expands because it’s fantastic! usually i lose interest in language apps because they are very bland and i get bored but this app actually makes me excited to learn every day. Thanks so much!

This app is amazing I have learnt much of the Japanese language and it is very easy to understand everything; clear pronunciations, understandable letters, and how to draw them.

My only issue is still for some unknown reason my iphone’s keyboard is missing several of the hiragana and Katakana symbols I need for writing and sometimes that means I can not complete a class. Ive tried pressing and holding on characters but am still missing ones to spell out words such as Ji

When it was telling the story it finished and I selected the landscape before the story and after it finished I pressed continue but it just replays the story over and over.
