Beyond awful
The app kept reverting to a loading page. So had to close and continuously reopen and find the page I was on. The copy is inane and sounds like an ai voice with some mispronunciations. All in all not good enough.

Poor English - just download Rick Steves
I booked this option through official Athens ticketing, and it’s a little disappointing. The Acropolis tour is decent (3.5/5) with some incorrect English but good overview of things. Not too many fun facts or deeper history, but you know what you’re looking at. There was an awkward dialogue with a random second person. Then the Ancient Agora is not even a person but a text to speech bot. Very flat, boring, and hard to keep attention. The prices if you don’t get this with your ticket are way overpriced.
Avoid it - do not use, couldn’t download content
Purchased entry entry via HeadOut app the code given for this app didn’t work. Called customer support they gave us a code. Then tried to download the tour - 45meg and it never completed. Terrible wast of money. Ended up doing our down tour using ChatGPT
Not a real audio guide
Disappointed by the “audio guide” feature. All I got was printed material that was read by a computer voice (often poorly). Directions from one stop to the next were confusing. Finally, the app would frequently crash or restart. Try VoiceMap instead.
Very bad
Content and tour do not match at all
Not a bad idea but poor execution
Overall not a bad idea but really this app did not live up to what I wanted. The interface was not bad at first and the geolocation triggers worked ok but it kept freezing whenever the phone was not in active use. It would complete the current audio reading but you could not navigate further after that. Quitting the app and relaunching worked quickly to reset it so I don’t think it was a service issue. The app needs a much better map feature for Knossos but I liked that part at the Parthenon so you could see where there were points of interest. The AI reading was almost comically bad. The Parthenon “back and forth” between two actors was a good idea but I still feel like I didn’t learn much from them. More filler time than anything. The museum portion was useless. Knossos has reasonably good interpretable signage so we just stopped using it there. Not many signs are available at Delphi or the Parthenon so something is needed, but I would recommend looking for another solution unless they improve the script there.
App doesn’t work
Codes to type in are all expired immediately.
AI at Ancient Agora
Enjoyed the tours of Delphi and the Acropolis - led by real people. Disliked “Nick” the obvious AI. Little emotion. Mispronunciations. Museum section was all run together. Better if each item of interest had been separated. Had I known the Ancient Agora tour was AI I would have chosen a different app.
No Good!
This app had tons of promise - was relatively easy to access. However, that’s where the positives stop. The audio is AI and doesn’t make sense in English a lot of the time. The worst part is the navigation. The directions to get to each stop are incorrect- and the site doesn’t provide much in the way of maps or directionals. We walked in circles and then also realized that they’ve blocked off some of the access so the directions and audio guide doesn’t match. It was an exhausting endeavor. Do yourself a favor and pay for the live guide. We wish we did.
WARNING
The “default” tour is for the Plaka, NOT the Acropolis even though you are purchasing the audio guide as part of the Acropolis entry package. We contacted customer service and they insisted we buy another tour. This is a ripoff.
