Lamptier for Philips Hue

Great app for dynamic mood lighting. It has improved significantly since launch and I appreciate the frequent updates. Still plenty of room for improvement regarding UI/UX especially. Content updates are fun and frequent. Not really tried the audio element of it, generally prefer my own jams 💃

Used the free trial and will be cancelling. There is a really bad bug in the software currently which means if you set the sleep timer it will rename your rooms on the Philips Hue app and break all the sync between the Apple Homekit app also. That’s ridiculous. Every morning when I wake up my room ‘Bedroom’ has been renamed to ‘schedule_8_use’. I have to rename the room every morning and resync everything back to the Apple HomeKit app. The scenes themselves are absolutely terrible and none of them actually fit the title. For example all of the tired/sleep related scenes play very upbeat random music from Spotify that you could never sleep to. And you better get used to it because the only option for audio here is to connect with Spotify - the app doesn’t have its own built in audio for a lot of the scenes so you are forced to connect to Spotify. And let’s say you do almost fall asleep, Spotify starts blasting out adverts full volume and it wakes you back up again and ruins your mood. Another blow is that the Spotify tracks for the scenes unfortunately are random every time - so there is no consistency. One day you might fall in love with a scene and the audio it plays. You go back the next day and activate that scene but Spotify plays a different random song. It’s like the developer got very lazy and just set it to shuffle songs related to that scene. As I write this I have ‘to the skies’ scene activated. The picture is a guy looking into space and beyond the stars. The scene suggests the audio will be some kind of intergalactic space music, calm and quiet. Something to relax to. But instead you get a weird track from Spotify playing a spoken word vocal track with an R&B beat. A song about breaking up with someone. It literally couldn’t be a worse fit. Deleting the app until you can fix the sync breaking bugs and very poor music choice for scenes.

This app has so much potential, which has been wasted on a buggy interface. Scene content cannot be downloaded and no explanation at all. Such a shame; This should have been a wonderful app.

This looks really good and would have loved to use it if I could have purchased it but EVERYTHING is the subscription model and am not going to pay anymore subscriptions. Just wish you could purchase it outright.

Reasonable subscription fee, Great options, built in sounds and playlists Available from Spotify /Apple Music. What I particularly like is the control for individual lights so for example I can have wall lamp set at a higher brightness than the ceiling. Highly recommend

I paid the sub. I had great fun setting up my rooms and I love how the app allows you to select where and how light is cast from the lamps but after this I haven’t really been back to use it. I think the issue is the UI, it’s pretty horrible, apps like home and the normal hue app are far better laid out and way more intuitive to use. This app should be amazing considering it’s a paid product, hopeful for meaningful updates.
