Appraisers need to stay within their role and focus strictly on authentication
I used Legiteem8 hoping to authenticate a vintage shirt I sold as part of a PayPal dispute. While the app’s premise is solid and the appraiser seemed knowledgeable, my experience was frustrating and disappointing. Instead of focusing solely on verifying the shirt’s authenticity (which is what I paid for), the appraiser asked for photos of the original listing and questioned whether the shirt I submitted was the same as the one I sold. This overstepped the app’s purpose and caused unnecessary complications in my dispute. As someone already dealing with a stressful situation, I expected a clear, professional opinion on the shirt’s legitimacy—not to have my actions scrutinized further. This app may be useful for straightforward appraisals, but I strongly recommend users avoid sharing details about resale disputes, as it might lead to unwanted complications. The app’s functionality could be improved by ensuring appraisers stay within their role and focus strictly on authentication. Until then, I cannot recommend it for situations involving disputes or resale.
