Lingopie: Learn a Language

A tiny selection of super low quality, unwatchable content. Most Netflix produced shows have dubbing and subtitles in French not to mention a wide selection of content directly from France now, and this app does not provide any content otherwise unavailable in the US, so there is essentially zero need to pay for it.

This closes the gap of actually understanding Spanish speakers. Listening to videos with subtitles in both languages and the ability to slow it down is super helpful

So far I’m overall impressed. In particular I love the applets (eg flash cards) that are built around stored vocab. However, the primary reason for me to use the mobile app is to download videos to watch on flights and currently in the app there’s no way to see “My List” of tv shows which is incredibly annoying. Edit: so it turns out there’s a panel in the home page with my list but there’s no way to view a single page with just my content - would be really nice if they added a filter or made the section “tappable” - I’m going to give 5 stars bc overall I think this app and service is pretty amazing and a game changer for learning languages.

I purchased this through the Apple App Store and when I try to login on Chrome it will not work. Also the library of Netflix shows with Russian extension is terrible. False advertising. Don’t waste your time or money with this program.

I was very happy to see this app come along. The idea is great. The execution is weak, and customer support doesn’t exist. One of the best features is that you can repeat a phrase and the app will judge your speech on a 0-100 scale. It doesn’t work for Chinese. It continues to return 0/100 for every word and phrase. After a few days I received a reply from customer support explaining that I was the problem, and told me I should try another language using a different platform. Do not buy this app. I’d give 0 stars if possible. New update: After Five more email replies from customer lack of support telling me how sorry they are about MY inability to make their broken app work, somebody finally noticed this review and promised they would get right on it. We will see.

I haven’t opened my app for months and suddenly I see that they charged me $36, I have been sending emails for 2 weeks, no one responded to me, I only got automated messages. I am so upset and frustrated. If you don’t want to deal with something so frustrating DO NOT USE IT!

I bought a subscription that was never recognized, in the browser or app. I wrote customer service 3 times asking for help, because I wanted to use the app. No response, after more than a week. Can’t even get a refund. Scammers!

This company although having a noce product that i generally enjoy and find useful…seems to have no way of contacting anyone. I emailed them after discovering that the app is simply putting whatever language it feels like into my review instead of each target language in each section so instead of studying russian words when i want, it insists on giving me French. I emailed them 3 or 4 weeks ago and received no response. Theres no number or chat or any way to communicate with them even though i recently bought their lifetime membership. Id test for a month or two before buying as i didnt notice these problems until a few weeks in.

I paid $200 for lifetime access (70% sale) and I have not been granted access to the platform for 5 days! I have submit multiple support requests and reached out to their moderator on Discord. No response. They took my money and don’t care that I don’t have access to the software. Beginning to think this is a scam. Hopefully this one star review will grab some attention!

Like others, I paid for an annual subscription and the app still does not grant me the premium access. I am sure that it is probably something easily resolved, but their Customer Support has only sent me an automated response with no follow-up (this is 7 days later now) or incident number to refer to. It points you to their Help page, but there was no information about account troubleshooting. So now I sit and wait with no way to follow-up on my original Customer Support request and have to hope that they will eventually get back to me. Unfortunately, I can't review the app based on my premium experience, but knowing what the experience is like when something goes wrong may also be valuable if you are considering a subscription and wondering about the trustworthiness of developers behind it.
