Live Photos are fantastic, but each picture weighs up to three times more than a still image. If you want to keep only the stills, that's a lot of wasted device memory.
With LivePhotosCleaner, you can delete the "Live" part of the picture and thus cut the size of the image by three, reclaiming precious megabytes of memory for each image you clean up.
Features
- You can preview the memory that will be regained before cleaning up the photos
- The still pictures remain linked with the albums they were added to.
- Live Photos which were offloaded to iCloud are downloaded automatically.
- The app is ad-free and will remain free forever because we care!
Good to know
- LivePhotoCleaner duplicates the Live Photo as a still picture, and moves the original to the "Recently Deleted" folder of the iOS Photos App. Thus memory will only be reclaimed after the photo is deleted for good.
- The still pictures will appear as new pictures in the "Recents" album of the iOS Photos App. There is currently, no way around this, unfortunately.
- Live Photos you edited (applied a bounce, loop, or long-exposure effect, applied a color filter, corrected exposure, cropped, etc.) cannot be cleaned up at the moment.

Simply does not work

The app is useless, apprently (from the reviews) works only on a small number of photos, which of course is a nonsense since you want to use is when you are running out of space. 👎🏻

No longer works.

I have an iPhone XS running IOS 18 and the app just spins and spins when ‘cleaning’ - even when only 1 photo is selected. This is very needed functionality as it saves much space. Hope this gets updated but doubt it.

Brilliant!

I’m new to the iPhone and didn’t even realize what Live Photos was doing. 6,000 photos later, I found this app. Does exactly what it says it can do. Thanks to the developer for putting this out for free.

The app is doesn’t working

It’s removed my photo and didn’t turn it to a non live photo

Sadly, doesn’t work

Wanted to use this as my Live got turned on and had way too many photos that needed cleaning up. Read a great review, but it would hang up and nothing would happen. Using iPadOS 16.5.1 (c) so it’s up to date. Found another competitor using Google, thank goodness.

App doesn’t work

Does exactly what’s advertised.

I had about 10000 pics with Live Photo on. I selected all and then hit check selection. At first it was telling me I would save 0.0MB but after a min it updated to 16779.4 MB would be saved by converting to Live Photos. I deselected all and manually selected about 100 images and hit clean and it converted all of them from Live Photos to stills. The only unavoidable issue is that while the converted image does retain the original date of the image they do show up as most recent in your recent photos list though. I’m now working on doing this for the majority of my Live Photos and reclaiming that 16gbs of space.

Good app!

Great app with a couple issues. It has a hard time to load a huge library, and it doesn’t let you select only the Live Photos that haven’t been edited. Otherwise works great, thanks for the app!!!
