Luminary Podcasts & Originals

Tried so many. Like the options and settings for personalising the experience. Overall, very happy. Feel the search could be improved as things need to be really specific and spelt perfectly. Also I find it a little difficult to find new content (that isn’t related to luminary). Appreciate there’s a balance given you want to make money, but I would love to see more drill-able and searchable categories in the home page. I mainly find podcasts through websites and the like, rarely through the app. it would be cool if it was more of a one stop shop. I only hold onto other apps like Spotify, RadioPublic and apple podcast because the library has some gaps. But I will aways listen through this if I find it here.

I’m happy to pay for shows like love and radio but I am not happy to pay for an underwhelming and frustrating app. Lacks Apple Watch support If you play a downloaded show and it ends it just plays the next show in order instead of playing the next downloaded show. Skipping with headphones skips podcast instead of fast forwarding and rewinding. And many other issues.

There is a clear American liberal leftist bias with many shows and how how are promoted. I am neither American nor leftist so I will take my money elsewhere.

Interesting podcasts

I assumed that if I'm paying nine dollars a month, I don't have to listen to constant ads. I was wrong.

I have never loved a podcast app more than this one! I love having my library of shows, notifications on new episodes, and it is so easy to use!

Why can’t I get anyone from Luminary to help? I pay for no commercials but I’m still getting them. No option to restore purchase that I can see. I emailed for help and all I’m getting in response is crickets. Frustrating.

I signed up for this service a few years ago (not through Apple). I stopped listening to it about a year ago because I didn’t find enough value as compared to other services. My credit card is continually being charged. I have tried contacting customer service and have zero response.

Tried to cancel my subscription when they dropped history on fire. I literally am not able to - tried the app, it said to go to the website. tried the website, logged in and it said I wasn’t subscribed. Then they charged me a few weeks later for a yearly subscription. No contact email address that I could find. I decided to let it go and mess with it before the next yearly subscription charge. Here I am a year later trying to do the same thing, still can’t find a way to cancel my subscription. It’s pretty rotten when companies use tactics like this….making it next to impossible to cancel your subscription. Zero stars.

I originally joined to listen to Russell Brand’s show and I have found a cornucopia of shows to entertain and challenge my world views. I hope that if you decide to try Luminary that you take up the challenge and subscribe to ONE podcast that runs counter to what you believe. You might be pleasantly surprised by your choice.
