What are Matching Cards?
Matching Cards, also known as Match Match, Match Up, Match Cards, Pelmanism, Shinkei-suijaku, Pexeso, Pairs or Matching Game, is a card game where the aim is to find cards with identical illustrations.
What is the purpose of Matching Cards?
- To work on visual recognition and image association
- To develop cognitive skills in logical-mathematical order (notion of pairs)
- To improve visual discrimination (spotting two identical images)
- To activate specific reasoning skills
How does a game of Matching Cards work?
The Matching Cards are shuffled and laid out face down on the table.
This Match Cards has both a classic and extended gameplay mode.
- In the classic mode, the goal is to find pairs of cards.
- In the extended mode, the goal is to find trios of cards.
To play Matching Cards, the player flips over cards of their choice:
- If the cards are identical, they remain face up.
- If the cards do not match, they are flipped face down again.
The game of Matching Cards ends when all cards have been turned over.
