so frustrating to have an App that has so much potential but is priced insanely high and it continually locks you on different patch windows you cannot get out of. No support offered. Could be a great product with if maintained and debugged. Shame

It seems to me that this app has been put out with no testing whatsoever. As soon as I tried to load one of the editors the application returns an out of memory error, which makes no sense at all as there is nothing else running and I’m on an iPad Air and run many different music and midi applications with no problems. Given that there are loads of professional level synthesiser applications which run on the iPad including full emulations of the actual instruments themselves it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever that a simple midi editor for the original hardware version of that instrument requires more resources than a full emulation of the hardware synth itself!! Out of three editors I tried, one wouldn’t load at all and another didn’t fit on the screen, half the editor was impossible to get to and there was no way to get back to the main screen of the app so I had to manually close the app from the dock. It seems to me this is a step too far for a small developer and the application really needs much more testing before it is ready for prime time.. Also it seems there is nowhere within the app to see how much one has to pay for the full version of the editors. There is a payment button should you wish to purchase something, but it doesn’t show you the price! Then, when you do actually discover the prices by visiting the developers website you can see why they are somewhat obscured in the application. Absolutely ridiculous pricing. A single editor for my old Korg prophecy was $99 and another $49 for my Akai controller keyboard would take the price to already more than the full cost of the desktop application which would include access to all of the editors!! It would be wrong to say this app is completely useless, as it does at least serve as a good example to other developers of how not to release a professional application on the App Store.

Initial thoughts ... haven’t got far as the top menu vanished and I can’t change the instrument , it’s stuck on an akai controller. The website link doesn’t work and in general their website is from 2005 or similar . I haven’t seen details of how the pricing works either. So it may be ok , entirely depends how things improve over the coming weeks. Updated ... the latest version from end nov only displays the logo then bombs out If the prices are as mentioned in the other reviews , I’ll probable remove it anyway.

Updated review...undeniably rocky launch but this could be issues as much with publisher as developer. Several updates later still unable to see UK pricing, perhaps this will be fixed in next version. Left 3 stars out of kindness after my earlier bashing..lol

So, finally the purchase button works but still no indication of cost, so I hit purchase to have a look.....£99 for Korg 03RW and £49 for TX7! You’re kidding right?

The only bad thing I noticed by now is No Access to the $ (purchases) page, to get the full working vycro editor for my yamaha mx49. Hope it can be solved quickly

Nice to see this version on the iPad, but we need the newer instruments that everyone uses Roland boutique series Yamaha reface series Korg minilogue and monologue Roland SPD-SX with support for installing samples Yamaha DTX drum pads Roland Juno Gi and D Behringer X series mixers Are just a few I use regularly, I'm sure most people with midi gear have a similar list. Sure a few people still want to control a DX7 with their iPads, but the world has moved on a bit.

I purchased the DSI Tetra editor. The programmer is similar to the discontinued Sound Tower Mopho iOS editor. You can easily edit programs, combis and sequences using an iPad. Please add a Midi keyboard screen so I can edit and test sounds using only the iPad and Tetra. Other functions are good. I tested the MX49 performance editor. This a port of the VYCRO MX editor. This lets you change the Midi channel, velocity and key range of parts 1-16 so you can make complex layers and splits. The MX module has a Midi Keyboard but the keys are too small to play. The MX module fills the entire screen and does not display a "Studio View" arrow. When restarting the app it defaults to MX editor. I cannot select any menu items, buy the module or switch modules unless I delete and re-download the app -- then I lose my Tetra and MX patches... Please fix. A bit of programming will make this a nice iPad synth editor.

This app could be a great, especially for those with vintage synths that need a robust librarian and editor. I own an Ensoniq SD-1, Casio CZ-1, Casio CZ-101, and Korg DW-8000. I purchased the $69 license for the Ensoniq SD-1 because this may be the only iOS apps that provides librarian, editor and Sysex support for this keyboard. Unfortunately after several hours of use, I’ve discovered what the app claims to do only work part of the time. It constantly freezes, then after force closing, settings and edits are lost. I’ve tried being patient, reading the help guide but there don’t appear to be any solutions. For the price of this license, the app should be rock solid and bullet proof. It’s not even close. Other app developers have found a way to create similar apps that are much more reliable and at a far more reasonable price. Please Sound Quest, put some development resources into updating this app, fix the bugs and reliability issues. If you don’t your essentially gouging and scamming users.

This is a nice program. I have ipad and Mac versions. I’ve got several older synths and the midiquest works well for programming and library Roland: D 50 XP 50 XP 30 JV 2080 JV 1010 also have yamaha VL 1m and kurzweil K 2000 synths I have newer synths for library use. (programming too but not needed) Dave Smith: P12 Rev 2 I’ve found customer support to be responsive and helpful.
