"Mindful Me is an innovative wellbeing app bringing together a ‘How are you’ wellbeing checker, Mindfulness Meditation Practices, Mindfulness Goals and a GAP journal enabling the documenting of Gratitude, Achievements and your Pledges (to further support yourself and others). The best results are gained when used under a school or organisational license to build on the experience of an expert led face to face session or course but it is possible to download separately using a provided access code.
Mindful Me will guide you to health and happiness. Learn to relax with guided meditations and mindfulness techniques that bring calm, help build resilience and improve happiness when committing just a few minutes a day.
It can be easy to rush through life without stopping to notice much. Mindfulness will help you pay more attention to the present moment – to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around you – all scientifically proven to improve your mental wellbeing.
Mindful Me also signposts users to local support services if they require further, more intensive support or access to local activities that may improve health and wellbeing.
Mindful Me (est2014) has positively engaged over 10,000 young people with resilient building Mindfulness and mind management techniques. The Mindful Me app offers a route to embedded practice and therefore sustainability for young people, teachers and parents.
“Future in Mind” (NHS 2015) noted that 1-in-4 people are expected to suffer from a mental health issue at some time in their lives. Half of lifetime mental illness (excluding dementia) starts by the age of 14. Therefore, it is important to equip young people with simple management tools to help build positive habits and where necessary, their outlook on life.
Mindfulness is shown to reduce stress, anxiety, reactivity and bad behaviour, improve sleep and self- esteem, and bring about greater calmness, relaxation, the ability to manage behaviour and emotions, self-awareness and empathy (Weare evidence review 2012).
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness means knowing directly what is going on inside and outside ourselves, moment by moment.
An important part of mindfulness is reconnecting with our bodies and the sensations they experience. This means waking up to the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the present moment.
Another important part of mindfulness is an awareness of our thoughts and feelings as they happen moment to moment. It's about allowing ourselves, to see the present moment clearly. When we do that, it can positively change the way we see ourselves and our lives.
