Customization limitations
First things first - can actually confirm the point that harmonic distortion is low indeed as stated in the description, which makes it a decent option for a compessor. But on the other hand - i was quite surprised to see how poor options for some of the parameters are, and just can’t see any good reason for this. • specifically - ratio options are 1.5:1, 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 16:1, 1000:1. uhmm.. rly? no choice at least in between 4:1 and 8:1, 8:1 and 16:1? this one is the biggest downside for me personally. • the lowest possible value of release for each band is 50ms… - ??? really no potential use case scenarios u could see for 20-30-40ms values to include those to the parameter? • the lowest treshhold is -40db. honestly expected it to be at least -50db for some heavy parallel cases. though it could be adjusted through input gain knob to match the needs - this is just a matter of comfort of usage. why to tweak two parameters if it can be done with just one knob? …it’s just that to go for a MBCompressor by itself is a subject for some let’s call it “advanced” users’ choice, which makes it unreasonable to cut the customization options of the plugin this way, it just makes no sense to me. If it matters - i would ask u to at least include some sort of switch to “unlock” additional values for the parameters i mentioned above, if u consider it crutial for the plugin to have this limited choice by default. so my rate is 3of5 taking into consideration all the above in combination with a pricetag which just doesn’t fit the concept of such user interface limitations in my opinion (still crying about the ratio😭). for the half price it would look reasonable, but not for the actual amount it’s being sold for.
