New Chessnut - Elevate Play

When using Chessnut on our kids’ iPad, the screen goes black right when the computer makes its first move on chess.com and then doesn’t recover. And this Apple iPad 6 cannot be updated past iOS 17. Note, this app works fantastically on my iPhone 15 with iOS 8! However, I do not want to buy a new Apple device for my kids just to make this work, so I’ll be returning the Chessnut board.

iOS version is a Major improvement, however a GREAT IMPROVEMENT would have iPad game screen HIGHLIGHT the Opponent’s Last ‘From and To’ Squares!! And I am serious that this Detracts from the game experience!!! Another point is the BOARD COLOR ADJUSTMENT is poorly implemented. Another negative to game experience. I do own the electronic Air computer chess board, however the interface weakens the total experience!

Can’t use app at all. Can’t sign in and can’t recover password. Customer service unresponsive.

This app, along with the Chessnut Air board, is a really great tactile chess experience. I love that that app includes several engines (including Maia) and I’ve had no issues connecting with the board. Overall I would highly recommend the app and the board to anyone that likes playing chess but wants a real “over the board” experience.

Please fix career mode. I have the EVO and the GO. This app needs to have similar features as the EVO

Your physical product is great. Please hire a product manager and get this app in shape. It’s very difficult to even sign up and log in. Implement SSO like the old one. Get rid of capcha, it’s not needed and your current implementation is broken. You can resolve all of the main issues in 2 sprint cycles, please do it 🙏.

This is a good start. However all of the YouTubers are showing the android version and it has so much more capabilities. Starting with Chess Vision which opens the door to many more apps being compatible. Downloading engines is a great feature but we don’t have it. Creating your own engine is also not available in iOS. Let’s go chessnut. Let’s get some equality here. Update: they have now added downloading engines to the iOS version. Thank you! Still not sure about chess vision. Update: playing by tapping is cool but I can’t castle! Thanks Update: The castling issue is fixed!

I love the addition of extracting recorded games from the board directly. It makes analyzing the games played OTB so much easier. Good job! I wish the developer can do the same for games played against the bot. Currently, we can only see the moves played but can’t copy the PGN directly. I need to screenshot it, and then OCR the screenshot to get the PGN out. I hope it will be added in future updates. Edit: I just found out that we can actually copy the PGNs from the bot matches. It’s just not clear in the first place. What a life saver!

Good start to the new app. But I had the app crash twice on me during live games. Also this app does NOT work when the iPhone screen is locked. The old app did this fine. Please fix this
