NYC 311

Still no support for third party keyboards after it was removed. This makes it very difficult to type descriptions. Identification of locations for complaints does not work when streets don't have buildings on them or are newer. Whole sections of Brooklyn are impossible to use the map for and addresses need to be typed in manually. No ability to resubmit tickets that were closed with no action taken.

Use primarily for reporting parking violations. Works fantastically well. Leaps and bounds better than trying to navigate the website.

I love how straightforward the app is, but I wish 1. you could attach images to more complaints 2. You could do more complaints in-app rather than being redirected 3. You didn’t have to have an address for everything. Many real spaces with real issues don’t have building addresses, for example, the Captain J Patrick Walk path along the East River next to the FDR. 4. More unsafe driving complaint options 5. More prompt response and more issues being resolved - I guess that’s not the app developers realm though :)

It’s amazing to file a report and see the Sanitation department act on the issue within a day. Only 4 stars though because the app doesn’t feel quick and fluid until you use it a lot. Still needs the appropriate service request for throwing out mattresses without a bag (this is how bedbugs spread). The closest service request at the time of this writing is “illegal dumping” which is not correct.

Used to be good for reporting things, now it only redirects you to web searches outside the app that only looks up policies. So why have an app?

Search options are limited. Every time I search for a complaint and look to file one it sends me through a browser to the NYC 311 site. Why do I need an app of it keeps sending me to the site. I also can’t look up the results of my request. Why waste space on me device with this garbage

Can’t use voice input in comments. Can’t use autocorrect in comments. Doesn’t remember your preferences from previous submissions. And worst of all, doesn’t actually result in any resolutions for the issues you report.

I love your app! Can you make an app called Nyc 911 please?

Seems like every time I go to use this app it shuts me down because an update is required. And I don’t have time in the moment to download an update, so I just skip using it. I update later but then they add another update, and… you get the point.

I just use the 311 app mostly to look at the “suspended parking” days but submitted a request to replace street parking signs after a bike thief removed the sign and slid both of our bikes up and over the street sign post - bye bikes. Took 6 months for them to replace the signs, but still worth the effort to report because before you know it, 6 months flies by quick.
