Octoscope - Electricity & Gas

Turned out to be my fault in copy and paste. All now working fine and getting to grips with the various functions. Thanks to Rob for a very prompt response to my previous review.

Octoscope is such an obvious copycat of Octopus Watch that I'm surprised Apple doesn't remove it. Octoscope is just ugly, over-full, and clearly here to confuse. The most annoying thing? The need to subscribe to access features that is constantly thrown in your face. You can see the slider to find the best slot but once you want to use the feature you get a pop-up window that you need to subscribe... Octopus Watch has a base app for just £2 that offers 90% of the features of Octoscope! Yeah, nope.

I discovered Octoscope a few months ago and it has shown just how much energy I’m getting from my solar panels. That means I can calculate a payback time for any future investment in solar. And I will, these figures make it a no brainier for us. The tracker price page also allows us to stagger our use for the best price power. i.e. laundry, grass cutting… Thank you for creating this app Robert. FB

An app that stands head and shoulders above the crowd. Well worth giving the free trial a go to try the extra features. I particularly like seeing the dynamic Agile price as a complication on my Apple Watch. Happy with the subscription when it kicks in for 12 months next week.

Update from the initial review below. Rob the developer was very quick to respond to my review and immediately got to work on a fix that worked first time, not many developers are that invested on their work or take time to reply (especially at weekends as Rob did) so that alone is worth considering. The app is generally very good, “Jack of all trades (but unusually), Master of most”, there are a few items I have suggested as extras to add (similar to other apps) to really put the “cherry on top” or “have your cake and eat it”. Even so as it stands on the trial or paid subscription it provides a lot of extra functionality and shows more effectively than most other apps when the cheapest or cleanest slots will be on the Agile tariff. This has the potential with a bit more added on to be the one “Agile tariff killer app” to totally replace all others if you are prepare to invest a little in a subscription. All told this is certainly worth 5 stars as of Feb ‘24, if the app keeps improving and stays ahead of the rest “it’s a keeper”… Original review I have both import and export meters in my account however when provided with the API key even though the meter numbers are detected no data is retrieved. Something needs a bit of debugging to allow the app to view this because otherwise it is pointless and will not show me anything of value. Other apps I have tried to pull my historic data down in both cases so I am hopeful the glitch can be fixed as I suspect this app will be useful in the longer term if it works.

Had a bug on multiple accounts under 1 signin and developer contacted me on NYE 2023 and told me it would be fixed and presto fixed on 2/1/24. All functionality I use and definitely worth the subscription. Definitely would like to see comparison against other tariffs as a main menu instead of a sub menu. Definitely would recommend

Doesn’t work. Something went wrong useless app.

This application fails to load on my iPad Pro or iPhone 15 Pro. Developer website seems to be static and not maintained. Disappointed. The operation couldn't be completed. (Octoscope.CarbonIntesityErrors error 2.) Retrying…

Great app with detailed info in a readable format. Saves you digging you way through the supplier website. 👍😁
