Original-FCC Speed Test

I’ve used this app for over a year but with this recent update - the last 2 tests (packet loss & jitter) don’t complete PLEASE FIX.

Is there some obscure regulation that could be interpreted that placement of FCC logo on an app icon would be misuse? Be bold, forge your own interpretation. The current icon is store-brand; a photo of a thermoprinted shipping label with FCC in Arial would be an improvement. This is not befitting of the world’s leading communications regulator.

Thank you for this free and useful app. The app icon: the old one, just deleted (April 2024) was perhaps a bit misleading but a nice-ish logo nonetheless. The new one… well, it looks as if “redesigned” by the accounting team. 🫣

Would be nice if they had one page with all info you have to agree to instead of clicking thru 18 different checks and OKs before the test is actually run. Especially for the mobile tests… you would think they would make it easy 1-2 clicks and tests are running… but no 18 Also not sure if it’s doing its job correctly but half the time my mobile vehicle tests fail. Not sure if this is just bc Verizon Wireless is terribly slow or nonexistent in my rural area due to “congestion.”

The speed test part of this app works well enough. However, it is not possible to collect challenge tests (or open the app at all) when the internet connection is spotty. This defeats the main purpose of the app which is to provide feedback on areas of poor coverage.

Wants to know your location and shares all the data with the government rather you want to or not. I could not find the app in the program files on my iPhone not even if it was just a change the location information. They should really only need the precise location data if you want to use the testing to send to them. If they where to use the General location and/or let me put in a ZIP Code that would be OK.

How can you run an accurate speed testing service and ignore IPv6? Sad to see how incompetent the company behind this service is. Update: seems like they finally added v6 endpoints and cellular speeds are much more normal, crazy it was even released without that support

I want to block cellular access because I’m only concerned about Wi-Fi but no where in the app can you change cellular access to none and for some reason this is the only app I’ve ever had that doesn’t appear in the settings on my phone. Why is that?

In 2023, we still have iPhone apps that don’t display properly on an iPad? One screen has the buttons going the right side of the screen and you can’t read the associated text
