PcLegends is a free app dedicated to tech-fans who are curious to know the prehistory of personal computing, through the first computers.
In 1971, the first microprocessor arrived on the market: the Intel 4004. A small “brain”, integrated into a chip, capable of acting as a central processing unit for small computers that, in a very short time, made computing available to anyone.
That's where the Microcomputing Era was born. And in just over a decade, microcomputers, or microprocessor-based systems, radically changed the world of computing.
In the “Gallery” section, the app introduces 85 legendary home, personal and professional computers, pioneers of the new era, which were released in the 70s and the first half of the 80s. In that app section you can Explore its essential features, along with its image and a brief description.
And, to challenge you and test what are you learning about those legendary PCs, the app offers four game modes: 'Name', 'Image', 'Specs' and 'Master'.
PLAY 'NAME'
— Knowing the photo of a computer, you have to guess its name among 5 options.
— The goal is to guess as many PCs in a row as possible.
— If you improve your record per game, it will be reflected on the scoreboard. And if in a game you manage to guess right 50 PCs in a row, your 'Challenges overcome' score will increase.
PLAY 'IMAGE'
— Knowing its name, you have to guess which legendary PC is it, touching its photo among 6 possible options.
— You have to guess right as many PCs in a row as possible, without error.
— If you improve your record per game, it will be reflected on the scoreboard. And if in a game you manage to guess right 50 PCs in a row, your 'Challenges overcome' score will increase.
PLAY 'SPECS'
— Knowing the name of a PC and 5 basic specs, you have to guess which one of those 5 specs does not correspond to that PC.
— The more PCs in a row you beat in the same game, the better your 'Specs' record will be.
— And if you guess right which one is the wrong spec of 20 PCs in a row, your 'Challenges overcome' score will increase.
PLAY 'MASTER'
— Knowing the name of the PC, you have to guess right five of its specs, on 5 successive screens.
— If you guess right the 5 specs of a PC, you will move on to the next one.
— The more spec tests you pass in a row, the better your 'Master' record will be. And the more PCs you hit in the same game, guessing right all 5 specs, the higher your ‘Guessed PCs' record will be.
— And if you manage to guess right all 5 specs of 10 PCs in the same game, your 'Challenges overcome' scoreboard will increase.
POINTS AND RECORDS
— In this section you will find, updated, all your 'Record scores' and your 'Challenges overcome' scores in the four game modes.
