A great camera app that’s affordable
This is pretty impressive — and the price point is appreciated. It’s easy to choose a film type now and the quality is great. Congrats on this.

The app doesn’t even work…It would only let me shoot on standard. Whenever I would try to change the filter it would just freeze up. This happened a minute after I paid $3.99 for it. I would like my money back.
Not paying for a camera app that doesn’t even offer a free base mode.
SCAM! Won’t let you try it without paying money. Response to developers response. I am perfectly fine with paying for the good apps. Your app is a scam because you cannot try it at all without signing up for a subscription. You cannot get the “free” trial without selecting a subscription. Many apps let you at least try the UI and do a few limited things without a trial or subscription, your app won’t let you do a single thing without selecting a subscription. So yes that is a scam, and it deserves 0 stars but the rating system makes you choose at least 1. PS the responses you make on reviews that criticize the app are way to defensive and make you look bad. If you are going to respond to bad reviews, most of the responses should simply say “I’m sorry you didn’t like the app, I appreciate the feedback”. You saying that I lied is the real lie. I NEVER said you had to pay for the app to try it I said “You cannot get the "free" trial without selecting a subscription. Many apps let you at least try the Ul and do a few limited things without a trial or subscription, your app won't let you do a single thing without selecting a subscription.”
They need to include a trial for this. This was an awful experience. The app crashed 90% of the time and I have more options on the native iPhone camera app than this. It’s horrible! Don’t get fooled.
Needs a few UI tweaks and processing could be a bit faster… but love this app! Photos look great straight out of camera! Assigned this app to my quick launch button and it’s become my primary creative camera app. Definitely worth checking out!
I saw that you guys have fixed the bug that causes the app to crash when switching lenses. I just got the app 2 days and it was working fine but when i used it today the app crashed when i switched lenses. But otherwise the app works well and it’s easy to use.
I’ve shot a lot of film, and I’m impressed with Pearla. Realistic film simulations and unlimited options to tweak settings however you’d like. Customer support was quick to answer questions I had. I’d love to see the option to shoot square, 1:1 aspect ratio in the future. Very enjoyable app.
I’ve tried this app before and didn’t like it due to its odd functionality. Often, after applying filters and making manual adjustments, the final photo doesn’t match the image shown in the shutter. As this is a paid service and the issue remains unresolved despite past feedback, I expected better. I’ll happily update my review once the app becomes reliable. Additionally, I attempted to delete my account, but the submit button doesn’t work, leaving me unable to use the app properly or delete my account. For these reasons, I’m giving 1 star. I wish the company success, but for now, it’s a definite no.
I love making pictures with my phone, and Pearla has only deepened my connection. I appreciate the apps simplicity and overall feature set — it wants for nothing — but my favorite thing about the camera is how it helps me slow down. The closest equivalent camera I own is an 85 year old Voitlander Bessa I. Shooting with it requires patience and intention, things most digital cameras and smartphones don’t foster. As a professional photographer for 25 years, it’s been a long time since I found a tool that made me better at my craft. Pearla is such a tool.
