# Behind the Development of Pilll
The developer, who started taking birth control pills for a gynecological condition, struggled with remembering to take them and tracking their cycle. This inspired the creation of an app that combines both functionalities in a “just right” solution.
While birth control pills are common overseas, their usage rate in Japan is still low. Many pill apps available were localized versions of overseas apps, which didn’t fit the developer's needs.
Through research, it became clear that many people in Japan who take pills for similar reasons still manage their doses and cycles using analog methods. Even though menstrual cycles become predictable when on the pill, there’s still a desire to know approximately when a period will occur—for planning trips or other events—without needing a full-fledged period management app like LunaLuna.
Pilll was created to address these needs, turning the anxiety of forgetting pills into confidence and helping users track their periods and health changes.
