Developed in collaboration with Glyn Evans [the founder of iPhoneography], Provoke Camera was inspired by Japanese photographers of the late 1960’s like Daido Moriyama, Takuma Nakahira and Yutaka Takanashi.
Simple, elegant and easy to use, Provoke Camera does just one thing, produce black and white images with that gritty, grainy, blurry look reminiscent of the “Provoke” era of photography, and in two great formats; square format 126 and 35mm format 135.
Provoke Camera features 9 great black and white and 4 color live view effects, in 2 great film formats, 126 [1:1] and 135 [3:2]:
1. HPAN High Contrast
2. NPAN Normal
3. LPAN Low Contrast
4. X800 More High Contrast with more noise.
5. I800 IR like filter.
6. Z800 +2EV with more noise.
7. D100 Darken with Blur (4Pixel)
8. H100 High Contrast with Blur(4Pixel)
9. E100 +1.5EV with Blur(4Pixel)
10. Nofilter
11. 100 Old Color
12. 100U Vivid and Sharp
13. 160N Soft
In addition to capturing beautiful, gritty, grainy, contrasty black and white images, Provoke Camera will also allow you to import photos from your camera roll and apply any one of its “Provoke” effects.
And Support TIFF Uncompress image file.
Also support Photo Extension with iOS8 later. You can use Provoke Filter in Photos App.

Please fix crashing
One of my favourite apps to use ever , but recently it is unable to open , crashes as it launches

Beautiful update
V3 takes Provoke to a whole new level. The color filters are beautiful to shoot with. Few requests tho: 1. A button for quick lock and unlock (current) white balance. 2. Fill flash with light intensity adjustment. 3. Tiff format seems to be broken, it right now always saves as jpeg even if Tiff option is checked. 4. Max quality jpeg ;) more options is always better. Great work, keep them coming!
a favorite specialty cam
There’s a lot I could say about the special aesthetic of this camera app. For now, though, leave it at this: I wish everyone who’s complained in these reviews about bugginess had contacted the developer directly instead of giving up. The experience of myself and others is that Mr. Tambo responds personally and is keenly interested in problem-solving. He also updates well enough, considering this is probably a small boutique-y operation. No, I’m not related or a business partner. I’ve used this app a lot over many iPhones. On my current iPhone 12 Pro Max, Provoke is giving me pics that are as artful as ever, trouble-free.
Provoke No Longer Working Properly
Provoke no longer saves JPEG images to my Photos (Camera Roll) since the iPhone iOS 16 Update. Now it only saves HEIC images. Previously it saved JPEG. This was a 5-Star app… now down to 1-Star. Sure would be nice if this glitch, or whatever it is, would be fixed. Thanks! Then back up to 5-Stars.
The best black-and-white camera
The best black-and-white hi grainy grit contrast iPhone camera in the market.
Pics look great but app is slow
The filters on this app are awesome but there is a perceptible delay between pressing the shutter and the app taking the pic. 5 stars if that gets ironed out. Competitor app Argentum doesn’t have this problem.
Can be so great, but is often rubbish
It simply doesn’t work all the time. It’s so incredibly frustrating. I often delete and reinstall, but even that doesn’t always get it working. What I mean when I say “working” is that it seems to be taking a photo, but it actually does not.
Failed to work, lost my original app
Piece of crap! LOST MY ORIGINAL PROVOKE APP AND THAT IS WHY I NEVER UPDATE APPS! SHOULD'VE TRUSTED MY REASONS!! WAS BEST BLK/W APP! PO'd!!!!
