Pure Piano

Always been a great app but just today they’ve added the above and now it just shines. I have about 40 pianos on my different apps. I’m a bit obsessed. This is a must buy. The flexibility in use is its USP, instantly change the feel and timbre even whilst you play. The multi sampling is first rate. I’m a happy lad.

I love pianos. I love morphing. I love this app. Playing with an IK I/o 49 keyboard is so responsive. Pure piano, pure joy.

Ha! Bundle price is ridiculous. It’s actually more expensive to complete the bundle with the Upright than buying the Upright on it’s own. Doh!

Pure Piano is easy to use, and sounds superb. Works very well as an AU3, albeit with the same damn problem that bedevils arch rival Ravenscroft. That being, the missing sustain button when used in AU3 mode. If the devs add that functionality, and this is an easy 5 star app.

Expect crashes. Lots of crashes. Lots of crashes and frustration.

Have to say I’m pretty disappointed after reading all the wonderful Reviews, I really expected a lot more. IK Multimedia’s grand piano is way better in my opinion and also with more options. This is a very ordinary unimpressive piano app - sorry.

On iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) and ipad 9, in the preferences window if i try and set the buffer size, or scroll through the list of preferences, the app crashes back to the desktop. 100% repeatable. Wasn’t like this before the update. Refund requested.

What a bundle of PURE JOY Pure Piano is , the sound’s are truly great especially the cinematic piano which can be brightened to give that Forest Gump style piano sound which is really beautiful, I own different piano app’s like iGrand and Ravenscroft 275 plus other piano’s that are within other app’s but this one is now definitely my favourite , if you’re thinking of buying this app I would personally recommend it as it’s well worth the money and an absolute must for anyone who is using an iPad as a sound module to supply acoustic piano sounds

The sound is excellent especially at lower velocities, which makes this ideal for more ambient and reflective piano. The mechanical thunk of key release is too loud and the volume cannot be adjusted AFAIK, so if they add a control for this it will be a 5 star review.

Great sounds, rich tone and the idea of incorporating FX like EQ, Reverb, and the easy-to-use ‘morphing’ so you can move from say a ‘gated’ sharp percussive ‘drop and lift’ action, through normal playing and on into a slow, easy pad-type sound, is a worthwhile twist. Many other piano sounds are patently available in iOS, the only thing to say is, if you bury piano in a multi-instrument song, this quality may not be needed. But, the more ‘exposed’ your piano melody or part becomes, the more this level of quality can stand up to the listener’s scrutiny. Which is to say, the listener can relax with this, there will not be a shortcoming that will jar while they take it in. Knowing the ‘native format’ helps get the best out of the instrument. This app stipulates it is 24-bit and 44.1kHz, and I have not experimented to find what happens if say, you tried 48kHz for a Cubasis 3 song. Obviously if you export, it’s as good as any other buried in a song undergoing a conversion. It’s a recorded/sampled instrument, so it does have that Gb of material to install, but music-makers interested in this probably have the space? Not a decision I regret, it’s really good, keeps impressing and just somehow stands out, a fraction better than ‘any old’ soundfont rendition. Even echoes etc sound better, and the ‘action’ seems improved - some apps with perfectly good sounds, do not ‘trigger’ at low-levels quite as well as this perhaps, when using a MIDI controller, an iRig keys 37 for me. I seem to ‘lose’ less notes, maybe it just is a more reactive app, better latency, etc. Can’t say, doesn’t matter, it works well. No inducements or money off to review this.
