Remembering the Kanji

When open Flashcards, after few strokes the whole app is gettin frozen..please fix! iPhone 5s/iOS 8.0.2

The update would have been great if they left untouched: 1) Card flipping with a tap on any spot on the card. Without this stupid "flip" button at the bottom. 2) "Wrong-Right" buttons in the cards study mode. 3) Cards count bar for study lists. How am I supposed to keep track on the number of cleared characters and those to be revised!?

Many of the words and vocabulary provided with the Kanji are either redundant or incorrect. As such this app is only useful for studying the Kanji meanings on their own; if you intend on studying Kanji by learning a few associated words (and readings) for each one I would not recommend this app.

Study lists are useless without some way of tracking progress. In fact, if you are serious about studying kanji, there is only one study list: all of the kanji in the RTK book. What you need is for the app to help you organise which Kanji to review over time, which is exactly what the spaced repetition system does. Also we found the stroke order to be different to what is shown in the book for some kanji (e.g. convex). Finally, being the official app and not having the original RTK stories makes it feel overpriced, especially when spaced repetition is available in other free apps.

I would have liked an Anki-style priority system with the flash cards in this app (ie shuffling the deck around based on your results) but otherwise it’s absolutely perfect to use in tandem with the book. I also highly recommend using a cheap stylus (saves a lot of paper!).

I can't fault it. This app has made reviewing the kanji an enjoyable process I consider it an essential companion to the books. Thank you!!!

Considering your paying out more than you would for the average app here, I expected that they would include the new 196 kanji they have added to the updated book. This app feels abandoned by the developer and author. Otherwise this would be the perfect supplement to the perfect kanji learning method. PLEASE UPDATE

This app claims to be more fully featured than the competition but in fact it lacks any spaced repetition system (SRS), which I would say is a pretty basic feature of any flash card app these days. You can compile your own sub-lists of cards, but the only thing you can then do with them is go through the whole list, optionally in a random order. The stroke order animations are great, as is having all the data from Hessig's book (minus the stories) in the right order, but the lack of SRS will limit its usefulness, and makes it feel overpriced.

This is a great app to accompany the remembering the kanji book. It let's you revise the kanji you have studied already from the book and with rtk 2 included it's also simple to find out the readings if you want to. I have two problems with the app however. Firstly trying to add all the kanji from a lesson to a study list sometimes crashes the app. Secondly, this app is not in line with the latest release of the book (6th edition). This means that the frame numbers are out of sync and there are a few kanji missing from the lessons. If these two things were rectified in some way I would definitely rate this a five star app. It's already a valuable part of my studies. (edit- now even better since you can import your reviewing the kanji stories!) Latest version edit- I've returned to this app after letting my studies slide a bit. it supports 6th edition now! great! I would like some sort of srs to be included in the flashcards but I suppose you can't have everything! The ability to draw your kanji now is much appreciated. Great app. You won't get better for rtk!
