Great content. Needs a dark mode option for night time viewing

The soundest and most trustworthy news source in New Zealand, free of charge, and ad-free, and well written with competent spelling and punctuation (cf. NZME and Stuff). It is effectively a news website, a radio podcast app, and a streaming source. This is among my most heavily used apps, and technologically it’s very serviceable. Given that it’s free of charge, the standard of the app is creditable. My only wishes would be that (1) the CarPlay app had more functionality, as its current functionality is near to nil and it doesn’t sync saved content with the app, you can’t play the latest news or look up programmes on it, (2) the podcasts/streaming could be linked in the app direct to Apple/Sonos speakers like other audio apps (instead of having to use a workaround), (3) there were a night mode.

Any chance of a Dark Mode? Would make it easier on the eyes for reading. Thanks

This is a weird one. A really quite good news app, with a poor podcast-like “radio” app which feels like an afterthought. Be better if they focussed on doing one thing. Looks like it’s in active development, hopefully radio side, (especially the user journey) will get some love.

In the BOP - so RNZ FM reception is weak. I was looking for a digital stream and found this App. The user interface is uninspired - and poor on the iphone - with only a handful of streams you would have thought they would use decent sized text and buttons The rear issue that makes this app poor though is that it caches the news - so it gets stuck on a stale version. Who wants to listen to news that us a week old, over and over You can uninstall and reinstall every hour - but you have to ask yourself if its worth that much effort.

Latest update completely doesn't work for me- just a black white screen with the menu down the bottom which just hangs and crashes! Heeeelp. I miss my NatRad.

As a kiwi living overseas this is fantastic! I like to listen 'on demand' but it used to be impossible to stream to my phone outside a wifi zone. Now I can listen on the train to work, fantastic thank you! Just wish there was more of the back catalogue you can access online

Good app

Considering this is the only non commercial news now in NZ and is taxpayer funded, can’t believe it still doesn’t have an iPad app like other NZ news sites
